Re: City & FFP (continued)

The New Jet Age

Dubai International Airport has surpassed Heathrow as the world’s busiest global hub, while three Gulf airlines—Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Etihad—are scooping up passengers. Boarding a lavishly appointed Airbus A380 at Dubai’s $4.5 billion Terminal 3, Graham Boynton examines the tectonic shift in aviation that threatens to leave the West’s cramped, bare-bones carriers in the dust.

Only sorta City related. Mentions Etihad's rise as the most preferred airline. So much for the small-minded rival footie fans who imagine the airline as some ruse to funnel cash to City.

City & FFP (continued)

Does anyone know if we buy a player for 10m and in the agreement it says a further 10m should we avoid relegation, does this count as 20m against FFP or 10m now & 10m next year, or just 10m now ?

You can see where I'm going with this.

Do you really think UEFA would let us (or anyone) get away with that?

City have been set our own individual target for 2013/14 which we are said to be confident of meeting

So going forwards, are there any English clubs at risk of failing UEFA's FFP?

Chelsea were in a little trouble but I imagine the sale of Mata helped balance their books during that season's accounts. Liverpool perhaps depending on how their revenue gets broken down. Arsenal, United, and Spurs should be alright.

The scum are safe next season :)

Chelsea passed FFP because of their freak win in the CL two seasons back.

The sale of Mata will not have been reflected in any accounts yet but should see them Ok for the reckoning before the 2015-2016 season.

Liverpool's financial position will not dramatically improve for the coming assessment next Spring. They were not involved in European football last season and did not have any significant runs in either domestic cup competition. They will have improved TV revenue and PL prize money but little else. If they would have failed this time around then they will fail next time.

Christ! Can you imagine the wailing and gnashing of teeth in the media if the bin dippers fail FFP?

Best thing that could happen. There's nothing unable to be changed if the dippers get aggrieved about it....
Remember they were the first team not to finish in the top 4 who were allowed CL entry, causing the rules to be bent and then changed....

Re: City & FFP (continued)

Might explain Liverpool's incredible price hikes. No adult ticket, even for the worst seat in a Category C league game, under £37.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.liverpoolfc.com/tickets/lfc-ticket-prices" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.liverpoolfc.com/tickets/lfc-ticket-prices</a>

Ticket prices have risen 50% in the last 5 years.

You'd think the huge TV revenue increase would stop this madness, but prices continue to go up at many clubs (including City).

I tend to think the whole system is unfair whether we play it straight or instead try it on like Impeccable suggests. We have been punished for something I don't really know, whether we have breached the allowable losses (the easy bit) or whether it is our suggested 'fiddles', or a combination of the two, but supposing our ploys come off and we either hit it big commercially as a result of these 'fiddles', or we sell off one or two of our players, the signings of which led us to breach those allowable losses of those years, and we sell these players at huge profits, then it would be right and proper for City to approach UEFA and to request, and receive, substantial financial compensation from that body for sticking it's nose into the rightful running of a successful business. Sorry for the rant but there are things I get really angry about, and this is one.
