City & FFP | 2020/21 Accounts released | Revenues of £569.8m, £2.4m profit (p 2395)

Re: City & FFP (continued)

They only logical conclusion I can come up with for the David Luiz deal is that PSG were convinced Brazil would win the World Cup on home soil, and that he and Neymar would be the most recognisable faces in the team and as such he would contribute massively to the PSG 'brand'. Obviously, that backfired as soon as Brazil played Germany. Either way, I simply cannot begin to entertain the theory of some kind of conspiracy between Chelsea and the Qatari owners at PSG. We literally have no ties whatsoever, and actually if anything there are strained relations between the two sides.

Based on the commercial activity lined up for the club, I'd say that player sales will account for making a profit in the 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons, then for the 2015/16 season onwards we won't need to make any major sales due to the new Turkish Airlines deal and continued growth outside the UK. Eventually, though, we will hit a wall and will need to probably expand our search for a new stadium site. Part of me would like to see us find a site with acres of space to develop on (leisure facilities etc.) like City have (was blown away by what I saw when I visited for our fixture a couple of months back, even if at this stage it's mainly training and academy facilities), but I mostly I feel that we'd totally lose our soul if we left the Hammersmith/Fulham area and that obviously restricts what we can make in matchday revenue without totally alienating our core support further with even more ridiculous pricing.

Didn't Soriano predict our revenues for 2013-14 financial year to be around £330m? Hopefully our results will come someday.
Soriano you say hmm

For some reason I read that in Yoda's voice.

Will it trickle down to us?

Etihad Airways has announced a five year sponsorship deal with New York City FC (NYCFC), the new Major League Soccer (MLS) franchise in the USA.

The five-year deal will see a substantial presence for Etihad Airways’ brand across the team’s playing kits, on game days at NYCFC’s first home, Yankee Stadium, and across its digital platforms.

“This is a milestone day. Our first home jersey is a huge part of our identity and we are proud that our kit and our team will be so strongly associated with a partner of the calibre of Etihad Airways,” said NYCFC's chief business officer Tim Pernetti.

NYCFC is majority owned by City Football Group, the owners of Manchester City Football Club, with the New York Yankees holding a minority stake.

Etihad are the stadium and shirt sponsors for Premier League champions City, and they also sponsor Melbourne Victory, the City Group's Australian franchise.

The Abu Dhabi-based airline was unveiled as the new football team’s principal partner at a ceremony in Manhattan, attended by Pernetti, Etihad’s chief executive James Hogan, and the club’s marquee player, Spain’s David Villa.

Former Chelsea player Frank Lampard is currently on loan from NYCFC at City until January.

In a speech in Abu Dhabi back in March, Ferran stated our Revenues for last season would be €404 million and that we'd be above Chelsea

Exchange rates at the time equate that to £338 million

I wouldn't have thought so, we were the start of the project, it's obviously not just about the UK, it's about the world project and the exposure that can be gained. The US is far bigger, just at a time when it looks like football will kick on, which will bring far greater exposure, relatively, to what they have at the moment.

The trickle down is that we are rapped up in cotton wool and secure for many years to come.

We are where it all started, and succeeded.
