Re: City & FFP (continued)
They only logical conclusion I can come up with for the David Luiz deal is that PSG were convinced Brazil would win the World Cup on home soil, and that he and Neymar would be the most recognisable faces in the team and as such he would contribute massively to the PSG 'brand'. Obviously, that backfired as soon as Brazil played Germany. Either way, I simply cannot begin to entertain the theory of some kind of conspiracy between Chelsea and the Qatari owners at PSG. We literally have no ties whatsoever, and actually if anything there are strained relations between the two sides.
Based on the commercial activity lined up for the club, I'd say that player sales will account for making a profit in the 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons, then for the 2015/16 season onwards we won't need to make any major sales due to the new Turkish Airlines deal and continued growth outside the UK. Eventually, though, we will hit a wall and will need to probably expand our search for a new stadium site. Part of me would like to see us find a site with acres of space to develop on (leisure facilities etc.) like City have (was blown away by what I saw when I visited for our fixture a couple of months back, even if at this stage it's mainly training and academy facilities), but I mostly I feel that we'd totally lose our soul if we left the Hammersmith/Fulham area and that obviously restricts what we can make in matchday revenue without totally alienating our core support further with even more ridiculous pricing.
