So samuel is the new mouthpiece for city? Extremely disappointing if we make a loss again and are reduced spending in the summer as the squad needs an injection of 3 or 4 world class players!

Don't get confused, profit/loss and ffp are not the same thing.

We can make a loss, have millions allowable for ffp, and then pass ffp with flying colours.

I'm not saying this is what will happen, just that you need to take into account what context people are talking in when they use the financial terms. Samuels could be completely right and yet we still fly through ffp.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

Khaldoon stated unequivically in the close season interview last year we were broken even at that point (after the FFP decision) interview released on 14th of May.

The accounts run 1st June to 31st May don't they?

Can't see the chairman stating we're even then us making a loss.

Turnover will be around £330 million we should be fine.

Also said very confidently that we are supposed to make profit this season (2014-15). But we'll see soon if Khaldoon's a WUM. ;)

Are people sure we are limited at all in January? The club statement at the time specifically only mentioned the upcoming summer transfer window with the cap, and the UEFA statement doesn't specify at all.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm sure we're limited, yes.
Only within the constraints of FFP (the same as everybody else) as far as I'm aware of.

Both statements stated that sanctions would be in place for the next two seasons unless we passed certain guidelines for last seasons accounts, which will not have been assessed before the 1st of January. Why do so many people read this as only one Summer window being affected? We have around £30m to spend in the January window, if we decide we do want to spend it, which when you look at the last 4 January windows grand total of one player in on loan (Pizarro) and one player sold (Balotelli) doesn't seem to likely anyway.

Plus Dzeko in January 2011. But I take your point.

I'd be disappointed if we don't break even, it's what we were expecting...hopefully the revenues have grown plenty though, and its a case of some extra costs that we won't carry forward.
As I said earlier, we can make an accounting loss of around £20-25m and still break-even for FFP purposes. So there is not necessarily any inconsistency between Khaldoon saying we would break-even (from an FFP point of view) and that we've made a loss. In fact we could lose around £35m and still meet the FFP condition for the 2013/14 financial year.

There was also AJ.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

Work on the stadium and CFA must be incurring tens of millions of Pounds. That cost will be excluded from the UEFA breakeven calculation, but will be included in City's accounts and the work, particularly on the academy will have been more significant in the last season

That was 2010, 5 windows ago along with Vieira.
