The signing and subsequent waste of money that was santa cruz alone should have got Hughes the sack. Disgraceful, the lad was not fit. Nothing against him but it should never have happened

Why do we single out Santa Cruz? He actually had a couple of good moments, unlike Tal Ben Haim and Wayne Bridge. Talking about wastes of money, how many years were we paying Bridge for again?

You right they were shit as well. Still does not take away the fact that Cruz was unfit. How Hughes stalked him was the thing that pissed me right off.

Tell me his moments as I cannot remember one other than the first time i saw a picture of his wife

He didn't find it funny...........................but he tripped over his crutch......................that was one moment?.

We seem to have already missed a trick if Yokohama tyres are to give Chelsea £40m a season for their new shirt sponsor?

As part of our group tie-up with Yokohama Marinos, someone wants their arse kicking if money like that is floating about the City and we can't be able turn it to our advantage?

Not forgetting that Abu Dhabi and their F1 links should have made that deal a dead cert'

I suspect there is a very significant reason why Nissan and Yokohama dont play together.

The thing is we are tied to etihad for a good few years so no shirt to sponsor
What I carnt understand is like the rags and dipers why we have no training wear sponsor
I thought that cityzens thing was just temporary
What this does show is at £400 m for 10 years for stadium, academy and shirt what a good deal etihad got.

As my head is beginning to vis a vi Tolms post and the subsequent replies I thought I would reduce it down for those who know more of the detail than I

1. Can MCFC decide to 'claim back' the expenditure on infrastructure etc in the years in which the cheques were cut?

2. Can MCFC 'claim' the costs of the developments across the globe where their brand is used?
(The new Melbourne CFA video sees management talking repeatedly about IP and the specialised team they have who will replicate the CFA across the globe)

3. Assuming the original FFP rules remain as they were MCFC claim that 'City Football' is their brand and therefore FFP means those revenues are allowed, irrespective of where in the world?
1) In theory we possibly could but in practice we've already published our accounting policies for fixed assets and the auditors would raise an eyebrow if we suddenly chose to write off the outstanding book value of those items.

2) We've already done that to a large degree by transfer charging the IP associated with setting up City Football Services & City Marketing Services, which we did last year. However we agreed to exclude intra-group transactions from FFP so there's no benefit in that regard.

3) The licensee has to be the entity that contains the football club and which is a member of a UEFA-registered association or league. So that would be MCFC Limited, as I understand it.

But as you have already explained yourself PB, there would be no point in writing off the infrastructure costs. If we wrote off, say, £100M it would mean we would have an additional loss of that amount. But the same amount would then be added back for FFP to finish up with the profit we would have had if we had not written off the infrastructure costs. Everyone should just forget about the costs of the training ground, new stand, etc.

As for anything else the club have shown themselves to be pretty innovative as it is!

Exactly. You cannot suddenly magic up extra cash to spend on players because you have the ability to add back the depreciation on new fixed assets for FFP profit calculations. The real benefit of being able to spend more on infrastructure without the cost being charged to profit for FFP purposes is that you can do things like increasing your stadium capacity and thereby increase income without having to deduct all the costs involved in generating the additional income from the incremental revenue.

Are you taking the piss? There is lots left to sponsor. The minihad could have its own sponsor, the first team training facility could have its own sponsor. The CFA as a whole could have a seperate sponsor. They could even flog of the separate pitches to individual sponsors. First team training today was on the Pot Noodle pitch whilst the under 21s trained on the Clearasil pitch and the same time the under 12's practised on the Farleys Rusk pitch.
All joking aside, we're not even scratching the surface.

Slightly off topic, but was this ever investigated by UEFA? Weren't UEFA supposed to be looking at the deal amongst other things?

The headlines from 2013.

Manchester United to sign £180m Aon deal to change name of Carrington training base

The question has to be asked, what is the true worth of the CFA in comparision?
