City & FFP | 2020/21 Accounts released | Revenues of £569.8m, £2.4m profit (p 2395)

In that interview he actually said on some main issues that he would have to go and ask Ruminigge or whatever he is called.
He is the main guy in european footy it seems.

"'We make a deal six years ago to the G14 and they say “OK Michel, but for the moment, we don’t touch the distribution of the money”.'

How long has the deal got to go?

'I have to speak with [Karl-Heinz] Rummenigge,’ the most powerful man in European football concludes.

'I don’t want to open the floor of a public debate on that because, you know, it’s complicated. I have to do that quietly, secretly with the people of the clubs.'

Platini is clearly caught between a rock and a hard place.

Believe it or not, I don't think he gave a shit when we emerged on the block.

His is a delicate balancing act and Wenger's comments yesterday was practically a veiled threat that a potential breakaway is why Uefa still have to try and satisfy the old 'elite'.

On the flip side, you now have BT pouring hundreds of millions into UEFA coffers and the loss of a fourth English representative in the competition, due to continued failures, they cannot contemplate either.

Platini's comments the other day were ones of exasperation, of being pulled apart by old and new.

Personally, I think he knew long ago this was all doomed to failure in the courts and how it was bound to play out.

I think we, and Samuels, are getting ahead of ourselves. FFP hasnt been scrapped, we dont know what changes will be made. It could be that FFP2 is more restrictive for City than the current version.

We're in danger of celebrating the toppling of Saddam's statue without knowing what will happen next

we win either way mate, the way the club is run we are virtually top dogs within the current rules

relaxation of the current rules we have the spending power to go any which way but loose

I think our biggest obstacle in terms of growing the club these days isn't Platini, UEFA, Rummenigge, FFP, or Gill. It's ourselves and complacency on the pitch. A few weeks ago after the derby defeat we were in danger of finishing outside the top 4 which would've been difficult to comprehend when you consider we arguably still have the best squad in the league, despite the FFP restrictions.

I agree mate.

Perhaps a bit off topic, but our turn around in fortunes on the pitch has pretty much coincided with Yaya, Nasri and Dzeko's absence from it. No-one would deny that these are not top players (well some would argue about Dzeko), but it just goes to show that the graft of Milner - who is a very limited footballer in my view - combined with the graft and guile of the likes of lampard - can get you a long way. Whereas prima donna stars for all their talent, if they aren't prepared to put a shift in, are fuck all use. And yes I know the big Ivorian scored a couple at the weekend, because he decided to turn up that day.

So did we, hence the reason we've been planning since Jan/Feb our targets for this summer knowing full well the reigns were off........It's open season!

He must realise that the old elite become weaker and weaker by the minute. I mean Bayern, Barca and Madrid are still regular champs league finalists, and pretty much unrivalled (certainly financially) in their own leagues. Therefore I can't see them ever threatening to break away. This leaves disgruntled teams like United and Arsenal who have to compete with two 'sugar daddy' teams in their league at a time when they are sub par. Yes they have huge fan base but if they threatened a breakaway league who is going to join them? Any money on offer can easily be matched and bettered by UEFA and the the most important fact in all this is who has the best players. Because whoever has the best players in their league/competition is going to be the one most regularly watched. And the best players will play for the clubs that offer them the most money.

Platini doesn't need to fear the established elite. He needs to fear the new money who have been treated abhorrently so far by UEFA.

There are 10 legal cases pending. This is why they have to do something because when those cases get up, FFP in any shape or form is DOOMED. Now they are trying to save face and "relax" the rules. Give me a break! FFP is being shown for what it is.

P.S . Haven't heard from Fanchester for a while. He must be shatterred at this news being the pro FFP person on this thread that he is

Obviously, we will have to wait until we see the new loosening of the restrictions.

Call me a cynic, but I have long held a position that City have been party to Platini's thinking and we and Paris have had to play patsy.

All being taken by Dupont. More of a class action than 10 separate cases.

All well and good but our club, the global brand etc has been somewhat tarnished? We have been laughed at and and put in bad light by the media. I hope we start getting our big bollocks out again this summer and maybe a good draw in europe with also a little help from referees in our games. You know platini does owe us ;-)
