City & FFP | 2020/21 Accounts released | Revenues of £569.8m, £2.4m profit (p 2395)

The British media lump the Arab owned clubs together but in France PSG are the leading club who bring in economic interest into Ligue 1. They have domestic rivalries with Marseille for instance but they don't have a powerful rival club(s) who would seek to exclude them from competitions. So in France, PSG are the dominant club. In England, Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal etc have formed a covert alliance of sorts and hence the domestic UK media play on this.

The financial media know full well that the City and PSG are run on a completely different basis. PSG are financed by the Qatari state. MCFC are not hence City group took on a debt issue recently for $650m and raised $500m from Silverlake investments for an equity stake in City. I think it is clear that PSG are state-owned. Manchester City are not although if you were a Man Utd fan I could see why you might think we were as there are state functionaries running City.
Silverlake, I think, took an equity stake in CFG, not City.

I can see us only being allowed to deal with a certain number of clubs in the future regarding transfers.
Like being told by the "authorities" which shops we're allowed to enter and purchase goods.
Welcome to today's football as of the cartel

Correct look at Vila trying to sell Grealish to someone else lucky he only wanted us!

I don’t think we will. PSGs circumstances are beholden to Qatar and now that the World Cup has been sorted for them they no longer have to be extravagant in the market.

This makes absolutely no sense.

The Qatar World cup was sorted for Qatar in December 2010. That's when the world cup was 100% going to Qatar. Signed. Sealed. No going back.

That's before they bought PSG. Before all their "extravagance" in the transfer market.

The fact is, despite not happening yet, the World Cup was merely their entrance into football and PSG gives them a great financial asset, huge soft power in France and exceptional visibility.

They are going to keep investing and growing it just like our owners will with City.

Sam Lee, who was absolutely spot on throughout the entire Grealish transfer, said something which was insane IMO and I can't believe didn't get picked up more on here or in the media.

He said that the delay between us telling Villa we were buying him via the £100m clause and him actually moving - which was about a week - was because Villa were desperate to not sell to City and wanted another club to come in.

In the end Grealish told them he wasn't accepting any other bids and they let him go.

There's also been quite a lot of talk around the Kane deal that other clubs or executives were pressuring Levy not to sell to City.

Yes it's operation stop us at any cost. Players need to become savvy to this and all the top ones have a cast iron get out clause. No fucking about and once it's met with a club they want to go to it happens. They also need to stop being sentimental as to the price. Set it lower or don't sign the deal. The fans will only turn on them when they've left so fuck them.

What hindrance would Villa receive from selling to us instead of someone else or more to the point, how would such a request from other clubs (if any of that is true) serve to benefit Villa? It sounds wild imo.

The other teams don't want to strengthen us in any way possible. It seems there is quite a lot of paranoia around us becoming a Bayern/PSG/Juventus type club dominating the league, if we win this year it'll be 4/5 so I can't say it's entirely unreasonable.

It's the same kind of mentality that made Burnley part of the hateful 8 clubs who wanted us punished before the CAS verdict. What do Burnley gain? Nothing.
