City & FFP | 2020/21 Accounts released | Revenues of £569.8m, £2.4m profit (p 2395)

how anybody can see why FFP was brought in to help football and its clubs and not just a tool to stop manchester city
are blind or daft. when the so called biggest club ? riches clubs ? in the world are in financial crisis and debt ridden but are never questioned. then they quote manchester city are breaking the rules spending money they don't have ?

manchester city are debt free and properly the best run football club in the world and a role model on how to run a football club. personal wealth v loans taken on club assets this is the question

uncontrolled rising debts by the so called elite teams is bad for the game and for the fans at them clubs because it will be them that are left to pick up the pieces in the end

also ask any of them so called elite teams to sell to the world richest person or persons RIGHT NOW they would bite their hand off in a instant. take the glazers at united if somebody offers them £2billion they would say where do i sign on the spot
But thats why we are seen as the problem in the eyes of the cartel, before SM came along, Arsenal , Chelsea, Liverpool & the rags could divy up the champions league money each season & nobody could touch them. So there was no need to challenge for trophies & they only have to invest enough to stay in those spots.

Well, if someone from the PL had asked Chevrolet if they were sure their deal with United was fair value, the deal would have fallen through.

Sponsors might perhaps have to certify that they have done some due diligence (especially if some public money is involved). That's Real Madrid stuffed.
Do you honestly belive that would happen, the pl bend over backwards for them

Just remember there was absolutely none of this shit before we got taken over. None.

Anything and everything else is just noise.

Bottom line is we came, took the trophies, took the sponsorships, TV money and prize money and they don't fucking like it.

Not seen this before (from May this year) but it was published in the prestigious Forbes magazine and is the best article I have seen which totally debunks the absurd "sportswashing" theory about our owner which is still being pushed by a group of moronic football hacks who have no understanding of how the business world works. I think it is a nice article to use for rebuttal if you come across some of these clueless fools on social media.

Edit:Just checked the author's credentials and he has won awards for exposing human rights abuses across the world which increases his credibility because he seems that rare breed...a journalist who just sticks to the facts.

It’s amazing what an article with no axe to grind, no pre conceptions, no fanboy bias can look like.

purely from a business point of view, it’s devastating for the istree clubs and their very different business models.

There’s enough ‘reading between the lines’ in the article to stick the boot into the cozy corrupt cartel… unless you’re completely bought into their narrative and are blind.

Exactly. All the millions of(dressed up) articles, forum posts and media bollocks regarding our take over, and that's all it boils down to. We took a big slice out of their shit and they are fuming!

The continually use of the word sportswashing are for the ears of the majority of thick jealous none supporting city fans to keep the negative narrative going.

The concept of "fair value" is one introduced by UEFA alone. Sponsorship deals are commercial contracts in which one party agrees to pay for services performed by the other. The idea that there is a "fair" market value is almost absurd unless the idea of a hierarchy of clubs is accepted (as UEFA seems to do) and even then it is little less than absurd because the regulating body cannot pretend to know what a sponsoring party wishes to get out of a deal. Can UEFA really know if two prominent sponsors of a prominent club wish to launder money for terrorist groups as the major benefit of their agreement. Beyond the catch all benefit of "exposure" sponsorship can offer any number of detailed benefits to a sponsor. But UEFA and the PL are the bodies qualified to pass judgement on their "value" to sponsors! How valuable is a noodle sponsorship to a club? Or must we monitor the sale of noodles at the ground before and after the agreement to make a judgement? Or are noodles an irrelevance and the sponsorship just a reward for the relative success of the club ten or even thirty years ago? As with other aspects of finance for clubs and companies UEFA and the PL are playing with fire and it will all end in tears. I believe that the only deal UEFA has really challenged is PSG's deal with the Qatar tourist body and there they had the 2022 world cup as a lever. They had to back off City's deals and if they are going to try and stop Newcastle making deals god knows where the trouble will end - most likely humiliating defeat for UEFA, the PL and their allies in the courts.

One aspect of value that is often overlooked is the tv audience. The sponsor of a PL shirt is getting far more value from the global tv audience than it could possibly get from the club itself alone.
On that score, City does remarkably well. Two years ago, we were the most watched club in the US, narrowly overtaking some poxy outfit from Stretford. I have not seen any up to date numbers, but "Etihad" appears on hundreds of millions of tv screens worldwide every week.
