City & FFP | 2020/21 Accounts released | Revenues of £569.8m, £2.4m profit (p 2395)

Kpmg being our auditor and City having confirmed the figures (and releasing them publicly in the next week) - and United’s being already publicly available says it IS a story
Not comparing like with like if sponsor payments are deferred for one club and not the other, empty grounds not being usual either, plus KPMG have been massively discredited this week unlike City's actual auditors BDO.

We are well behind this financial year no doubt.

Simply not true and the same for any business.

We are in a very fortunate position where the majority owner is not involved with us for profit but to substantially increase his investment long term, as long as we are self financing all is good.

We are in a unique and fortunate position, Roman at Chelsea has put fortunes into the club, but as loans and IF he sells he would probably want those loans repaying in full.
Cash generated from operations to fund transfers is likely the most important metric for a football club. This is of course driven by turnover and key costs such as player wages.

Profit is meaningless as a football club doesn't or shouldn't (cough cough, Glaziers) exist to turn a profit.

I’m right and I’ll say the key point again, profit most certainly isn’t king in football. Especially so at City. Especially so in the age of FFP where turnover is key.

I'm not sure how meaningful "overtaking Utd" actually is ... because it covers a time when they didn't have 75000 Irish / Welsh / tourists / Londonders in their stadium every other week.

But even if our turnovers are only similar, it raises the question again of why they are constantly moaning about not being able to compete with us.

Fact is, they can (and do) spend every bit as much as us ... they just keep finding people like Sanchez, Pogba, Schweinsteiger, Depay, etc, etc who seem to give up on football as soon as they arrive. Even someone with the self confidence & drive of Ronaldo seems a bit out of sorts now he's wearing their shirt ? It's weird, but great for us City fans to see !
Most likely the fumes from the swamp
