It's quite funny that a lot of you seem to be missing the bigger picture here. UEFA Champions League is an invite only competition, so you could refuse to pay the fine or boycott the Champions League if you really wanted, but you really think it'll hurt UEFA?

They'll simply invite the next available team into the Champions League and life would move on. You're not important enough to derail the Champions League through boycotting, it would still remain the most prestigious club level competition available and you'd just be the ones missing out - which again, would simply hurt you financially through lack of sponsorships.

For those of you calling it "pocket change", wow, it shows just how ridiculous your views on money in football have become from your sugar daddies looking after you. £50 million is an incredible fine. Money even your club wouldn't want to lose.

Again, City would probably refuse to pay or challenge in a court of law, however I think the fear of no Champions League is a much scarier idea.

This is outrageous. Is it why rags can afford to be as shit as they are? Will they just beg for invite after this season?

Your lot will find this out next season...

Absolute joke,50 million!!! Where exactly does the money go and what is it used on??? Uefa is /FIFA is bloody corrupt,I would love city to take this to court and win but would we be guaranteed to win our case???

Does it matter? We should refuse to accept these ridiculous sanctions (if true) and see where it takes us. UEFA will doubtless back down to an extent. If that is still not acceptable and we still say we won't accept, then it ups the ante. The only option for them is to bar us from the competition. Then we sue them... if it gets that far.

If we win great. If we lose, then we tried. We aren't winning the CL any time soon with some of our revenues deemed inelligible towards the break-even result, £17m coming out in fines and squad size/shape/salary restrictions in place.

Cool heads must prevail.

However we must challenge this if we think we can win. This is a very draconian punishment. Maybe it's time to hook up Dupont and stop this illegal extortion.
I think we should get him in on a retainer, along with several other experienced barristers who've won high-level cases at EU level, some Corporate Law experts, a few people from the IASB and a few marketing/advertising experts, see how UEFA react.

Appreciate the principle, but the reality is our owner is required to pay a £50 mil fine which does not count to future FFP calculations. You think he's that arsed? Seriously?

Given that a large part of why he wanted a PL club was building the reputation of Abu Dhabi I imagine he's a tad pissed off, yes.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

uefa and fifa are the most corrupt and morally bankrupt organisations in sport.

They accept racism, they accept sexism, they accept bribes, they look after vested interests from the like of the rags, bayern, chelsea, arsenal, real etc.

They are dirty, vile. comtemptible scumbags, and they need challenging like the smug, obnoxious, bullying fucking parasites that they are. Do it City, do it

It's an admission of liability when he's done absolutely nothing wrong so yeah, he might be.

Agreed. But I still don't think he'd be that arsed

Hardly the point though. Let's go to war.

Brilliant so owners aren`t allowed to invest 60 million in their own business and football unless of course the give 60 million to UEFA first.

Fckin Genius.

Corrupt a fck..

It is.
And so the real ideal of FFP is now there for all to see....it is nothing more than a way for UEFA to extort money out of clubs like us and PSG....a complete joke, the sooner we tell the twats to fuck off the better, it looks like we may have to take this all the way
