City & FFP | 2020/21 Accounts released | Revenues of £569.8m, £2.4m profit (p 2395)

Re: City & FFP (continued)

Do we have a vague guesstimate how much this one is worth? i.e. is it a major one?

Owner of Arabtec is Riad Burhan Taher Kamal, a former civil engineer who is not related to the royals.

Chairman of Arabtec is Hasan Abdullah Mohamed Ismaik, who is a shareholder in 1860 Munich and not related to the royals I believe.

Yes, he owns 60% of 1860 Munich, so guess why the other team in town are so found of FFP.

It really is farcical and so fucking transparent.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

This is one of the things I really hate about the media & the non-city fans - this assumption that any money that comes in from the middle east is 'dodgy'

I am well documented in suggesting that the idea our owner has no influence over the likes of Etihad is laughable, regardless of whether they can legally be referred to as an RP, though I know some on here disagree.

But as a few others have hinted at, what more natural party to want to associate themselves with us than one based in the UAE ? There is an awful lot more synergy for Etihad & us than say Emirates & Arsenal. If we were talking to several airlines about sponsorship, say British Airways, Air Malaysia, Quantas & Etihad, which one is going to see greater natural synergy and therefore want to pay more in sponsorship ? It's not rocket science !

Likewise, of all the football clubs in the world, which one has had the most media attention in the last few years ? Us. So we are arguably the hottest prospect for any commercial entity looking to sponsor a football club. Which firms are amongst those trying to increase their global presence ? Those in the UAE.

So IF the Etihad deal goes up in value (which it should unless the deal terms prevent it) and if other UAE firms continue to step forward and sponsor us, UEFA are going to have a real hard time determining 'commercial value'. Ironically Ed Woodward's role at the rags in increasing their commercial deals, both in number and in financial value, could help us enormously in that respect, especially whilst they aren't in Europe but are still signing mega bucks deals

Don't be silly.

1. It's a Arab deal, so it is RPT by suitably modified definition.
2. The actual value is £18m per annum (made up number)
3. UEFA adjusted value. 48p

Easy.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

At the end of the day what does FFP really mean to us ? We are owned by an owner with immense wealth and as important, a forward thinking strategy that eclipses anything that any soccer club has done before. We are thinking outside the box to raise income and they are still stuck in the main, to outdated means of raising revenue streams . The football powerbase is shifting to the middle East away from the traditional european clubs thats what really worries Platini and co. Our owners are doing business on a level that other premier league owners just havent woken up to yet, and very few in Europe either . As fans i think we are focusing far to much on FFP so what if we dont play chumps league football for a few seasons? When all is said and done we are going to be so big and powerful soon Platini and co will need use not the other way around .

1860 Munich use to be the biggest team in town but f-up in the Seventies still have a strong local support and a lot 'in common with us, so its easy to understand that BM fear the Manchester-scenario..

Elements of truth and elements of nonsense in there IMO

Firstly, our owners intend for us to be a standalone, commercial profit making entity in it's own right in the short-medium term. Which btw will immediately put to rest all the nonsense about 'what if the sheik gets bored and walks away' that's spouted by some journos & rags

But we genuinely do want to comply as that's part of the whole PR thing. And we certainly care deeply about CL. If we don't play CL for a few seasons, we don't attract the right players, we lose income, we lose sponsors, we lose credibility & the owners lose face. They will be trying very hard to ensure that doesn't happen

But I do think we only have to tread carefully for the next few years - once we are through that, should be plain sailing for FFP purposes

We were runners up

In terms of premier league revenue from the league Liverpool topped the table as they had more revenue from live TV exposure we were second £900,000 behind. FWIW they earned £97.5M
