City & FFP | 2020/21 Accounts released | Revenues of £569.8m, £2.4m profit (p 2395)

Re: City & FFP (continued)

I don't think any of us are under any illusions as to reactions to our revenue, especially if it does exceed that of the other Manchester club, but just as "you'll never sign players as good as ours" and "you'll never win anything cos no-one wants to play for you" were expressions of a nervy, desperate hope rather than realistic, reasoned prophecies, so will be the ludicrous explanations of City's "cheating" - but redcafe and rawk will still be scared stiff.

You can still bet your bottom dollar that we will be called cheats.
Fans of other clubs will not look beyond the fact that we have a rich owner and will just assume that he has been pumping money into the club indiscriminately, or they will say that we couldn't have achieved this without some sort of financial chicanery.
I have already had this discussion with arse fans and there is no way they will believe anything other than that.
It's already been done to death in another thread , but I will be keen to see how this financial miracle is covered in the
"Popular media"
Not holding my breath for a favourable, or even fair , response

Nothing surer. Liverpool fans on RAWK are convinced that Mansour buys thousands of tickets every home game just for FFP purposes.

A rag I know, when I explain the empty seats on camera are season ticket holders no-showing, says something similar. He legitimately thinks Sheikh Mansour buys thousands of season tickets, while we have a waiting list of over 7,000. It's full-on indoctrination and nothing you say, no amount of logic you throw in their face, makes a difference.
It's a coping mechanism for their pain.

Re: City & FFP (continued)

My opinion is that FFP is so bent that I love it when we are accused of cheating it. Nothing would give me greater pleasure than Khaldoons Kabs , a taxi firm from Beswick with one car, sponsoring us to the tune of £80 million and reading Herbert's subsequent interview with Wenger on the subject.

"Khaldoon's Kabs" emblazoned across the front of the shirt would give us a certain kitsch.

"The Khaldoon's Kabs Arena" I'm not feeling, though. Then again, 'Etihad Stadium' grew on me.

A quick question for those that are well up on FFP. Realistically, what could we afford to spend next year? If, for instance, we make £20 million profit, does that mean we can spend £50 million in total (which would put us a £30 million loss overall which is allowed)?

The reason why I ask is that will we ever be able to spend £70-£100 like Real for a truly world class player, or will doing so instantly put us in contravention of FFP for the following year?
Soriano predicts our revenue for the 2014-2015 season to be around £400m. With our wage bill being around £230m (plus a few other operating costs) that leaves a huge reservoir of cash to spunk on our own galacticos.

I believe it's $405m Or around £250m. So still a way behind the rags.

no it isn't, we've already made £271m in 2012/13.

If Soriano's revenue projections and the bluemoon wages projections are at all accurate we'll have reached the magical ratio - wages only 50% of turnover. It's simply not fair play - you shouldn't be allowed to win every domestic trophy, and the PL thrown in twice while you're getting your finances sorted out.
There ought to be a law against it!
Don't worry, there will be! ;-)
