As a side topic, I’d love it if 5 a side emerged as a professional form of the sport, like 20-20 cricket did. Imagine if there was a genuine 5 a side league and all the premier league teams entered it. I’d be all over that. Imagine watching these guys in 5 a side!

As a side topic, I’d love it is 5 a side emerged as a professional form of the sport, like 20-20 cricket did. Imagine if there was a genuine 5 a side league and all the premier league teams entered it. I’d be all over that. Imagine watching these guys in 5 a side!

True, although that’s slightly different to five a side as we know it. Different goals and a smaller ball that doesn’t bounce too much. Either would be good.

Even just sacking off the League Cup and replacing it with a 5 a side knock out tournament would generate so much more excitement.

Six a side was the only pro game in the USA for a while, and it will take over as the main sport in 50 years when heading etc is banned for H&S.
