City Football Group (CFG) (parent of MCFC) issued £210m of new A preference shares on 30 June 2024

Very ambitious plans for Montevideo academy. First phase completed. Aim is to build the best academy in Uraguay and one of the best in S.America.
CFG marches on.

So Silverlake roughly own as much shares as scruffy jim at the swamp.

officially cannot be called state owned anymore by our medias own parameters
Joint owners is how our media describe the set up at the swamp

You seen anything further about the new academy CFG are building in Albania, (not linked to any club) ?

I wondered what the angle was.

Football clubs rarely make a profit and with the City Football Group owning or own a % of 12 other clubs can't see the CFG making profits anytime soon only Man City make profit!

Yes, this is very much a development phase. They have lines of credit and loans to take care of the bills and I believe the good sheik can pay if necessary.

It's a hell of a long development phase. I suppose there are some group-wide efficiencies but I wonder if Mansour, if he had his time again, would decide to invest the billion he has lost in CFG in other directly or indirectly sports related businesses?

I suppose I am asking just how successful the multi-club ownership model will be?

CFG will never make a profit. For one thing it covers costs that aren't directly associated with a revenue stream (e.g. executive salaries). And for another, I can't see that any of the clubs will nver make a significant profit. It eats large amounts of cash every year.

No, not seen that. They do stuff in the States that is independent of clubs, such as soccer schools.
This is in conjunction with the Albanian FA and Government. The original plans looked like it was out in the countryside somewhere but recent pics seem to be diffferent to thst.

Khaldoon is loved there. From 2019

Prime Minister Edi Rama: Thank you very much for your presence here at this important moment, which is another stop on a journey that started some time ago, when I personally met the CEO of Manchester City. One of the most brilliant people I have had the privilege to know, Khaldoon Al Mubarak whom I asked to consider the possibility of opening a Manchester City academy in Albania and then, together with Ani, we went to Manchester to specify this idea and turn into a project.

I want to thank in absentia, Khaldoon, who is now a good friend, for the support and consideration with which he treated this request of ours, while one can only imagine how many requests Manchester City has to manage. I am very glad that we managed, not only to secure a contract to build this academy here, but also to have the exclusivity for the entire Western Balkans region, a condition of contract specifying that in case another Manchester City station is opened in the future, the municipality of Durrës will be a partner as well.

One assumes that they hope for several of the clubs to come into profit eventually: New York and its associated development, Melbourne maybe, Bahia, Delhi City. As PB has noted, CFG is unlikely ever to be profitable but capital growth should be decent.

Hi, I'm currently conducting research for my dissertation titled 'Football's Expanding Empires: Fan Perspectives on Multi-club Ownership in the EPL' and I'm asking fans of every PL club for their views, I would really appreciate if any City fans would be able to take the time to complete my questionnaire using the link below!

Done.

Not that this makes a blind bit of difference and I'm sure @slbsn was simplifying, but ADUG no longer exists and the company that owns CFG on behalf of Sheikh Mansour is now called Newton Investment and Development.

Why did they get rid of united only to change it to another previous rag name (newton heath) is there a more reasonable explanation as I'm sure I'm being a bit silly.
