City Football Group | Secure $650m loan facility for infrastructure projects (p 54)

Hopefully we spend some of it this summer on a quick centre back who's great at winning headers.

I wonder how many people know this is our value, apart from Blues that is. A Rag was on the tram yesterday going to the Tranmere match and he said the difference between our owners and his is that ours put 200 million into the club whereas the Glazers had taken 200 mill out. He then got a brief lesson in how the Sheikh put 200 mill in, got it back by selling 11% and his investment was now worth 4 billion. He honestly did not know the club were worth that. The lickspittle media don't report it as it is positive news and so the story goes untold.

That might also just be the blinkered world view of a Utd fan!

We won't be spending any of it on CBs this summer - that wasn't what it was for. It was for developing the wider City Football Group.

That's a shame. The key thing underpinning the success of the whole CFG is a successful MCFC first team. If we don't keep investing in top players and winning trophies we'll be far less influential and less attractive from a commercial viewpoint. Everything should be geared towards City trying to utterly dominate.

It is, thats why CFG was created. We could not spend the money anyway as its not counted as revenue, it would have only boosted the balance sheet.

Worth noting.
The Sheik bought the club for about 200m. That money went to the shareholders, not the club.
The Sheik than underwrote our losses on the team to about net 500m and paid about 250m for CFA and ground improvements.
He sold 13% of CFG to the Chinese consortium For about 200m and 10% to Silverlake for 189m.
He now owns 77% of CFG worth almost 3.5bn (but this is on the high side) for a net outlay of 560m.
Nice one, Sheik.

It's the CFG that's worth $4.8 billion, I'm not sure how that breaks down to City's worth.

I was not meaning City, I was meaning CFG. Unless I am wrong he started CFG with just us for 200 mill, since then he has sent the odd pound or two but he has seen his investment CFG. grow to billions. My point was the Rag I spoke to and a lot of others think City/CFG are still worth 200 mill.
