City have lost their soul

Some weeks ago, Torino FC fans went to the Superga Hill to commemorate the terrible accident that wiped out the legendary "Grande Torino" team. There is a small monument there, with the names of the fallen, and every year, on May 4th, the team and thousands of fans do this small pilgirmage to honour the memory of that invincible team that was wiped out in a matter of seconds.

This year, there was one of you guys. A Manchester City fan, wearing your team's colours and leaving a Man City scarf next to the hundred Torino ones. I dont know who this guy was and what he was doing in Torino that day, but as long as City will have fans like that one supporting the team, you will NEVER, EVER lose your soul.

Thank you very much on behalf of all the FC Torino fans and congrats on your title, all of us support Manchester City.

All this talk about "istory" and soul and deserving it . . . . History shouldn't be about winning things. History should be about what your club has been through, what the supporters have seen and still stood by their club. It's easy to follow a winner. It's easy to puff your chest out when you're winning trophy after trophy, title after title. Try laughing and sticking by your club when you get relegated a few times and can only count your trophies as lower division champions, etc. History is about experiences and ups and downs. We have it in abundance . . . . for better or worse . . . til death do us part.

welcome to the board and thanks

i'm amazed at some of Slur's comments in the paper yesterday
Clearly he has lost it as he thinks History=trophies, what a knobend

All clubs have history, some proud some not so, however it is never just about trophies won

I'm in me sixth decade of supporting the blues and I can say that from the 55 Final, through the 68 team to the present, the passion and soul has only intensified.

If it were City fans suggesting that we have lost our soul it might make me think, but meedya types who want to make a story where one doesn't exist, or pundits who want to make a mark, are all characterised by the simple fact that they have probably never followed a team to the ends of despair and back, and so wouldn't understand the first thing about 'soul'!

What a lovely post. Grazie Mille.

I have always looked out for Torino's results - been sad when they went down, happy when they were promoted. Maybe it is just the link of being teams in a City with more glamorous and famous neighbours. I think a lot of other blues do, too.

Forza Torino, Forza City.

Well they have a point- I mean did you see the way that bunch of foreign mercenaries behaved on Sunday- all they could think about was the money.I was furious the way they just looked so uninterested & didn't seem to care about the club or the fans- they are a disgrace & should all be sacked! Oh no wait- it was other thing!!!
