Spot on, me and my other half have some friends in Dubai who are putting us up for the week but the airfare on a direct flight from Manchester via Etihad is really quite eyewatering, even with the Seasoncard discount. £400 each. That makes the package seem quite reasonable.

Sorry fellas but i can't help thinking a friendly fixture bang in the middle of our most important season possibly in the clubs history (definitely for over 40 years) is a very stupid idea. Sure it's a lot of fun for the more affluent City fan who can afford to spend hundreds of pounds to jet off and watch a foolishly planned friendly. And it is during a scheduled international fixture when the majority of our players are with their nations anyway. But it's a squad game and the likes of Taylor, Sylvinho, Onouah, Zabaleta, Weiss and the like will all be very important squad players. To risk injury against a bunch of semi pro's who will be eager to prove a point in front of their home crowd is blatantly stupid.

We are bound to lose a couple of first choice players during the International break, we always do. So we will need our squad players (whom most are as good as some first teamers anyway) to stay clear of injury. Considering the fact that when everyone returns we will be facing an AWAY TRIP TO ANFIELD.

It's obvious this is something that our owners (whom i do agree are FANTASTIC of course) have forced upon Sparky as i am sure that, if he had the choice, he'd prefer to bin this nonsense. It's one where i believe he should have politely stood his ground and explained his reasons of why this was a bad idea.

it will prepare players for european matches for starters,no more risk of injury than squad players turning out in reserves, owners see their investment 1st hand,i could go on really...

Mate its going to be like an international friendly with fuck all contact, basically a weeks holiday in the sun for the players and a bit of a kick about.

Times by three it's far to much for my take home pay........Never mind there will be other opportunities (as I keep telling me self).

Not quite the same is it mate. A cup is a cup. No matter how shit. Plus we don't have to fly to the other side of the Fucking globe for no reason at all to play Fulham.

I can just see it now. "Shit, We've lost SWP, Bellmy and Robinho to injury in the international break", "It's OK we still have Weiss and Petrov as backup". "Shit i forgot, They both took knocks in the useless friendly we've just flew half way around the world to play"

As for those who say they have the same amount of chance getting injured in reserve games. True, but they are a necessity. Friendlies in the middle east half way through a very important season on the other hand???..........

I will be there with a couple of little surprises including getting to meet Robbie face-to-face and wearing a very special Kandora (Arab Mens Outfit) :)

sorry mate but its gota be done. kaka and terry?

when this fixture was first announced i thought i might pop over, i looked at the hotel that the players are staying in on tripadvisor and made my mind up that i wasn t going to get fleeced by staying there, the more i read about AD the more i turned against the idea of going, just dont fancy it, i suppose its a choice thing, time off work, cost etc, i would have made my own way there, but just does not appeal to me i m afraid, funny thing is when it was first mentioned i was all for it

Booked qatar airways and the Sheraton Resort Hotel. Far cheaper than the Thomas Cook deal. Noticed also that the TC Economy deal had sold out. Any idea how many are on that trip?
