City in talks with MLS for possible expansion

Being totally impartial here..... :-)

Its got to be Atlanta - has everything.........except CITY!!

On a serious note though, there is a huge untapped talent pool being lost here and if we establish it first, others will no doubt follow, but we will be always leading the charge!

Totally agree. The youth that are starting to come through the USMNT ranks are very very talented. Luis Gil is just the first of a group of players that are being looked at by European clubs, and while Danny Mwanga didn't actually come through the ranks, he is applying to become a citizen in order to play for the US and he is expected to jump across the pond in a year or two along with Gil.

Ah my mistake. I completely forgot about Chivas. My point was more geared towards the clubs across the pond in Europe.

I thought they were called Chivas USA and played in LA as opposed to Chivas who play in Mexico? Or am I mistaken?

I like this idea.

But how exactly would it benefit us? Profit? Promising youth players?

Obviously it would depend on how the deal would work but several benefits would be perhaps having first dibs on upcoming youth, maybe sending some of our developing players on loan to the club, and then just making the City "brand" more well known. The average person over here when you say you support a team from Manchester immediately say United. If City wants to become a global brand then this would be an excellent way to start by breaking into the US market.

They are two separate teams, but there is some link between the two. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but there is something tying them together.

It's definitely all of these. Plus, MLS plays during the what is considered the off season for most European leagues, so it would allow some of the younger players to continue their season and get the most playing time possible in a year.

Chivas, something of a Barca/Real of Mexican football, own Chivas USA as a wholly-owned feeder. They set it up to compliment the academy they wanted to establish north of the border.
