City launch legal action against the Premier League | Club & PL reach settlement | Proceedings dropped (p1147)

An odd resolution. It felt like being seen to be in the right and publicly winning this was just as important as actually winning and allowing the deals being blocked. This suggests we've been paid off to drop it, can't see what would be more valuable right now than a public victory.

Ostensibly this is completely separate from the 115 case, but I can't imagine we'd have agreed to drop it if we felt we were about to get fucked over on the 115.

Yep. Why would you drop a potential bullet against an organisation which could potentially throw you out of the league or deduct you 50 points?

I wish the club would make a further statement explaining why we have now agreed to drop the case.
I want to know why we've dropped it, I want to know if any compensation was paid, I just want to know what's changed and why the secrecy, that would help us in continuing arguments with fans of other clubs who continue to doubt our perceived injustice.

The APT rules were clearly brought in as the cartel couldn't get anywhere with Related Party Rules. So it's disappointing we accepted them and they'll remain in place but if we've got a big financial gawin out of it then I assume we"ll live with that.
I think it’s the amended APT rules that we are now accepting - not sure though !!

Also, we can now proceed with a huge sponsorship deal with Etihad using its true value

Just sounds like we have agreed we won’t challenge them anymore going forward.

I suppose people will say why? and think 115…but it is probably that we just think the current version is ok or are admitting that we can’t prove it’s unlawful.

Edit: After reading the article looks more like a win for City (again)

IMO (backed up by the club's actions over the last 15 years) City's position with FFP, APT etc. has always been to work the grey areas as much as possible without trying to bring down the system because it protects us as much as hurts us. We have among the highest revenues in world football, so we can spend big, but we don't want clubs like Villa and Newcastle doing what we did in 2008-2011.

They dropped the assessment of our Etihad deal! That was why we did what we did with the apt certain clubs was getting an advantage of free loans while they assessed and knocked back our Eithad deal

This bit is absolute bollocks.

Does this mean from today or have we forgot the shit flung at us by the fat twat Masters?

The whole point of the 115 is exactly that, we've been treated differently and accused of stuff and that other clubs running like a bag shit get overlooked......or treated differently.

Odd wording.

Sounds like we can now get better sponsorship deals, so I'm guessing it's a victory? Don't really care about Arsenal just care about some twat in an office telling a company that they're paying us too much in sponsorship.

Something’s afoot - I expect another statement soon about 115

It will be the new ones. Is it a win for both parties?

the Premier League has now contacted clubs to inform them that they have agreed a settlement with City, and that the hearing will no longer take place.

barriers to the Etihad deal have now been removed

The development may be seen as yet-another victory for City, although the Premier League may well be relieved to bring the chapter to a close

Well well…..

Just my opinion I think we’re satisfied now with Eithad sponsorship deal now being accepted & may now validate previous revenue sponsorship payments sent to the club. Also with Eithad it keeps giving us a great revenue stream with regards to FFP for the future, best legal outcome we could of got from it
