City launch legal action against the Premier League | Club & PL reach settlement | Proceedings dropped (p1147)

"A separate hearing will be held to determine who pays what, with the Premier League expected to defend robustly any claims against it for costs on the basis that the process has yet to be concluded.

The league’s lawyers are also likely to point out that it was not its decision to become embroiled in such a lengthy legal battle, accusing City of aiming to cash in on any APT changes via huge new sponsorship deals with Etihad Airways and other commercial partners."

What's the legal term for not having a leg to stand on?

desperato situ?
This argument is genuinely hilarious, its basically saying well you didnt allow us to become dictators so you should pay for that, its akin to the police giving a speeding ticket to someone in a coma and making them pay it because they didnt challenge it.

Naughty City, wanting rules that are legal and desiring to pursue our own financial well being. Tut tut, that will never do.
Quite shocking that we’re ’aiming to cash in’ on new sponsorship deals. Callous, in fact.

And when have the Premier League ever decided to become embroiled in a lengthy legal battle, costing millions in legal fees? Simply not their style.

Yep. Boils down to, 'We never intended to become embroiled in a lengthy legal battle for potentially falsely accusing someone of doing something that they had every right and expectation to do'.

'It was never my intention to go to prison for theft. My neighbour was zealously enjoying the Ferrari he bought with money he'd earned.'

I could have written, 'with his own money', but we know how that would pan out...

He's getting his reputation dragged through the shit though and he certainly doesn't like that.

I think you are over estimating the pl to be honest. Our owner works on the world stage and I don't think a micky mouse run pl will have any effect on him or his business's

It is absolutely heartless, egotistical and selfish that City are doing this - think of the Children for god's sake! There is a cost of living crisis going on and City have nothing better to do than new sponsorship deals! It's inhumane and someone should have to go to jail for this!

The pl face a 20million bill to pay City. How does this get broken down.
Seems unfair on next seasons 3 promotion clubs plus City.
So does the bill come from the other 16 clubs that should get less from the pl than the 3 promoted and City.

Plus do the 3 relegated clubs get away with not paying their share ?

There are people on this board who are infinitely better qualified to assess/estimate/guess what money City are due back but fwiw (not a lot admittedly), if the papers are sensationalising it at £20m, more than likely we won't receive anything near that. Thus, allowing the same media a second round of sensationalist bullshit by spinning the award as some sort of moral victory for the PL.
As I say, just a guess from having kept an eye on how the fuckers operate, these past few years.

It comes out of the central pot i think mate?

How dare a club defend itself against discriminatory illegal rules that have cost it money, it’s not the Premier League’s fault the rules it put in place were illegal. It’s also not the Premier League’s fault it voted through new legislation which wouldn’t solve the problem when the panel had still not delivered its verdict on what should be put in place, even when City highlighted and told each club not to vote on it.

It should be paid by the clubs who voted for it, despite being warned, or the lawyers that advised them if they seek to rely on legal advice. Wilful negligence.

They appeared to start when they realized that the observance of UK Law was mandatory.

Edit
It will continue until unfair investment treatment is rectified.

The APT panel would determine if we are 'due back' anything. And it all goes to the lawyers anyway. It would be sweet though if Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal get to pay for this legal process.

You're probably right and you are right about our owners working on the world stage but they have tried to drag their and City's name through through the mud.
