City Live (intro video added page 15)

Re: City Live

The video on the OS is pretty poor really as it does not show much of what went or capture what a brilliant show it was.
The opening vid definitely needs to be on the OS.

Re: City Live

I managed to get into the VIP bit and had my picture taken with the trophies. Any idea where there are / will be? I have searched the official site and Facebook but no joy.

Cheers.

Totally agree with Mattyb the opening vid was awesome, I would love to see it again.
I agree but its the type of thing that brings goose bumps to blues but would probably be ridiculed by fans of other teams.

That's why it should be on the OS!

We just got back. Excellent night and Marr was brilliant.

Fucking hell that was a late night

Lol. Stayed at the Premier Inn next door to the event. Train home to Coventry in the afternoon.

They really do need to post the opening video with the David Threlfall VoiceOver on the OS!

It was the best bit now I think of it. Marr though, just brilliant.

Well done City for an excellent night. I thought Johnny Marr was incredible and Jason Manford was excellent. Loved the entire event. I was away last year when it was on so can't compare, but did think this was great. I thought Frank Lampard looked a bit embarrassed when Jason introduced the Champions, but I also wondered what he made of it all. I can't imagine any event at Chelsea matching this for prestige etc. noticed Ferran at the side of the stage loving the old Smiths tracks as well!

Oh god. Please don't tell me our senior execs were bobbing along like prince Charles at a jubilee concert? I'm glad I didn't see that.

Most of the players and staff had fucked off by that point DD, and they had us huddled forward around the stage for Johnny Marr, so if Ferran was dancing and grinning with a cheese factor of 10, very few would have seen it. Did you know Johnny Marr was on City's books as a 14 year old winger by the way (according to Dennis Tueart)? Thought overall the event was a triumph. Very few clubs out there with the requisite mix of glitz, local support and self deprecation to pull it off!

Not quite! Marr was offered a school boy trial but he failed to turn up, preferring to spend his time playing the guitar than kicking a ball.

Was it not for Notts Forest (I know people say you can't call them that any more but everyone did for decades so why not?)?

According to the book "the Severed Alliance"
"He played for Manchester boys and and had trials for City. He just ignored it . Rather than training, he'd rather be in his room playing. After he was 15 it was music, music and music. ".
And
"I played under persuassion from teachers. There was one time I got into the house on a Sunday after being at Andy's house (Andy Rourke) all weekend. I walked in wearing leather trousers, a leather jacket and biker boots and there was this scout from Nottingham Forest asking me to play for them. I said 'No way!' By that time I was ready to leave school."
