Ibrahimovic: Milan new boy

Zlatan Ibrahimovic says he was not interested in joining Manchester City this summer as they are not yet ready to challenge for big prizes.

Ibrahimovic joined AC Milan initially on loan with a view to a permanent move last week after an unhappy spell at Barcelona.

City were reported to be interested in signing the Sweden international after Barcelona made it clear they were willing to offload the skilful attacker.

However, Ibrahimovic has hinted he rejected a move to Eastlands with Roberto Mancini's side still in the early stages of their development.

"City must fight Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal - sides which took years to build," said Ibrahimovic.

"City are still a side for the future. I chose Milan because they are a team that can win prizes now.

"City can wait for the future but I can't."

Ibrahimovic says he had no choice but to leave Barcelona after falling out of favour with coach Pep Guardiola.

"The problems began in March. I asked for an explanation, but he did not give it to me," added Ibrahimovic.

"I couldn't take it. I had no choice but to find a new place of work and I was lucky to go to a club like Milan.

"I will soon be 29 years old and cannot afford to lose a year sitting on the bench and watching the weather. I saw what happened last season with Thierry Henry."

If he came he would have thought of himself as the big fish in a small pond. Thank fuck he didn't come here.

Good luck for the future, Zlatan. I'm glad it's not here at City.

If City played against an AC team with him, Robinho & either of the other 2 lightweights in it we'd beat them 8 times out of 10.

Luckily for them though, Inter now have Benitez so that could give them a chance. Doubt if even Rafa could drop Inter's standard so low that AC's merrie band of pensioners & bone idle layabouts will catch them though.

who give a toss what he says he is the most over-rated and laziest twat ive seen

Typical footballers attitude.

Doesn't say much for his ability - implying City can't win anything now suggests if he had signed for City he was not going to bring much to the table. Want's to walk into a team that are top of their league and in the latter stages of the CL. Why not get off your overpaid backside and try and push a team to the highest level.

He may be right about it being too soon for us to win 'major' prizes (I assume he means CL), but where he's deluded is with regard to AC's chances. They've gone the same way Utd are heading. Ageing squad, less success and not a lot of money - although evidently, they can still borrow from Burlosconi.

All looks fair enough to me , he's 29 and not at a stage to drive a team to the big time.
A team with him Robbie and Ronaldinho is quite interesting to say the least
