All I was bothered about in 66 was Joe Mercer coming to City. Did not give a toss about the world cup then nor now.

I posted something on a similar thread a few months ago.
I watch England, and hope they do well, as this is where I live and I love my country, but the team itself, I don't care about. There always seems to be a click in the camp and the players seem even more distant towards the fans than at club football. The press hype the team so much it is disgusting and portrays us as extremly arrogant, and one slip, and they are crucified, giving us no sensible opinion in the media.
I could happily miss an England game and not care to much about the out come, yet with city, we must win all the time. It's like cousins, if you see one every week, you have a greater affinity to him/her than a cousin you see every couple of months.
The England team to me is just a hobby, but City is my life.

Promotion I guess you meant in 66. Mercer came in 65 and we won Div 2 in 66.
