Met him once at the bar at Cheadle Town and got chatting with him after a charity match he'd played in a few years after he had retired. Told him in my opinion he was the best keeper in England for three seasons and that he should have got more England caps than he did. I made the mistake of saying I thought the reason he didn't was that people remembered the Jimmy Greaves goal against him when he was a kid and judged him on that. He told me he'd have got 60 caps if he'd played for United then he literally lifted me off the ground by the throat and told me he'd batter me if I mentioned "that goal again". Never meet your heroes: some turn out to be a real disappointment.

I'm guessing you'd both had a few jars as Joe was usually a friendly fella when sober and it wasn't Jimmy Greaves who scored "that" goal but Ronnie Boyce. ;-)

I have managed to accept and support most players whilst they wore the shirt. Even Cole, P Schmichael, Fowler and McPointy... only Tevez (after his tantrum), and Tony Vaughan have I detested whilst they played for us. Mind the criteria for TV was pure inability, so going from the OP question maybe he shouldn't be included. Undecided on Yaya yet it may be his agent I don't like.
