City Pub in Cheadle

Went past the George & Gragon that Tommy once ran for rmany years & it all boarded up ! what a top Blue pub that was

Yeah , it's been like that for a while now ...... i think the Cheadle branch , that once met there , now holds it's meetings at a club on the Ladybridge estate in Cheadle Hulme.

But the Kennilworth is only about a mile or so away , and the landlord there is a fanatical City fan ..... although from what i've seen , on derby day , whilst there's usually loads of City fans in there , there are usually quite a few rags too.

There aint a lot of hope left for some pubs if one like that has to close its doors

i heard its been bought recently and is going to open up again

dunno if its wetherspoons or not but you,d think theyd be favorite for it ?

Yeah was a great pub that he gave it up i think when he was robbed on cheadle high street or that's what i have been told.

The queens in cheadle is a decent pub, has all the games on and a decent number of blues in for away games, beers a touch pricey tho £3.10 for a lager. Foods decent and better priced

The George and Dragon closed never !!!!!!!!!!!! I was born and breed in Cheadle but I haven’t been back for 10 years or so. You couldn’t get in the G&D on a Friday and Saturday night 20 – 25 years ago and if you did it was 20 mins to get severed. I used to get a coach to every home game from there run by the branch it was great.

Is the Star still there I noticed the revolving doors had gone last time I was in (fire risk apparently) I can remember being pissed after we beat Charlton in 1985 and I couldn’t get out I kept going around in the revolving doors and ending up back inside the pub.

Good days but the pubs are finished Sky hasn’t help they want £1,000 plus a month from the pubs so many decent pubs can’t show the football anymore and that has killed a lot of trade, for smaller local pubs anyway.
