City Quiz Question

The game where we beat Spurs 2-1 (90/91?) we both played in a change strip, Spurs all yellow and City all maroon. The commentary suggests it was a request from TV that led to the change.

The other match, which I think was 85-ish as mentioned, both teams came out in their normal home kits but City's shirt that season was a very pale blue and the ref decided it was too similar to the Spurs white shirts and I think we had to change to the checked red/black away kit but it was a long time ago so I could be wrong!

The one in about 1985 was funny, we had blue/white shorts (of course) and spurs had white/sky blue shorts. City went off after about 5 minutes and came back on with the away shirt and shorts on but kept their socks on !!

Ahh I thought I was wrong with the first year.... spent a while looking on youtube for the 1st game (obviously it wasn't 87 / 88 as we were not in Divvy 1) and I thought it was 2 consecutive years - but yes, it was playing in the home kit.

I remember the first game well, I think after about 2 mins, a City player was flagged for offside and the Kippax going mad because he was clearly (in our eyes) on side and everyone saying the colours were too similar.
The ref stopped the game, got Spurs together, said something, then got City together and ordered them off the pitch! Spurs hadn't bought an away kit with them.
When City came back on, we all chanted ''We're supposed to be at home''.
Think I'm correct in saying we won both games too!
I was going to add it's the only times I remember it happening.... then it dawned on me the Middlesbrough ''UEFA Cup play off'' game / Fowlers howler of a penalty miss game..... :(

Along similar lines, Boro had to change into the rags home shirt as there kit had a sponsors name on it and the game was being televised.

I posted the report of that on my twitter a few weeks back: <a class="postlink" href="https://twitter.com/#!/GaryJamesWriter/media/slideshow?url=http%3A%2F%2Ftwitter.com%2FGaryJamesWriter%2Fstatus%2F159258329460387840%2Fphoto%2F1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">https://twitter.com/#!/GaryJamesWriter/ ... Fphoto%2F1</a>

It was also the last day of 'red cards' before they were abolished (later re-instated). See the cutting for details.

Fuck me we had some shite playing for us then. Adrian Heath was woeful, only to be replaced by wayne 'the Stump' Clarke. The ginger Mourinho (Gary Megson) was awful too!!

I still hate Adrian Heath!! Was that the game he rounded 2 defenders and the keeper then sent the ball over the fucking stand from 6 yards out?

The old marketing departments bright idea to preview the new away kit on the last game of the season....... the dark blue one that clashed with the referee who was wearing black ................. I'm sure we actually passed the ball to the ref on a few occasions during that match.

I "outed" Inchy (as being rubbish) on Danny Baker's 606 after losing 4-0 at QPR, so remember that season very well!
