The next step will be to increase the actual attendances. Obviously that would need some sort of ticket exchange scheme

Why is that a "next step"..?
That would be more of a customer service thingy eh?

I think the club would be more willing to introduce a ticket exchange if they could be sure that every game will sell out. A lot of games are still selling out at the last minute so the club will want to make sure that those last couple of thousand fans buy from the club rather than other fans.

Once games sell out a week in advance, once there are 50,000+ fans wanting to buy a ticket, a ticket exchange makes more sense from the club's perspective.

The ground certainly looked much better on Monday when it was genuinely full. Even the Directors box was full!

A big % of games this season have sold out WELL in advance. Norwich home was sold out 4 weeks in advance IIRC and there have been many examples of games selling out 1-4 weeks in advance.

The saturday 3pm kick offs sell quickly but the televised games, especially saturday evening or monday night (apart from united), seem to take time.

It'd be a bit difficult for anyone other than City to set the record average attendance for CoMS!

Hmm, well Oasis have split up now and you'd have to be tone deaf to want to listen to Coldplay.

Ticket exchange would only lower attendance figures. . sounds mad but attendance isn't actually attendance it's seats sold. Ergo, when a season ticket holder doesn't go his seat is still counted as sold and he counts towards attendance.
Introduce a functioning ticket exchange and, while we might get a truly higher 'at the ground' attendance, some fans attending would be sat in seats that would have been counted even if they weren't sat in them. That would lower the number of seats sold and suppress the attendance figure.

I should add that the reason that we don't average closer to 48k is because the visiting clubs rarely use their full allocation.
