Manchester City have beaten off competition from ’70 percent’ of Premier League clubs to sign 15-year-old goalkeeper Loris Karius.

The Germany Under-16 starlet will leave Stuttgart on July 1 to move to the City of Manchester Stadium as part of the club’s Under-18 side.

The player’s father, Harald Karius, told Spox: “Manchester City first contacted us after they had attended the German Under-16 side’s game against Macedonia in September 2008.

“We were invited to see the youth and first-team set-ups, the stadium and the area, and they held discussions with his agent.

“We had many offers from England and Germany – 70 percent of Premier League sides wanted Loris.”

He added: “Loris has great talent – if he didn’t, there wouldn’t have been such massive interest in him – but football is all about performances.

“Loris can’t afford to relax. It’s all about hard work.”

Stuttgart youth director Thomas Albeck admits there was nothing he could do to keep the player at the club.

“They offered sums that, in football, are beyond all conception,” he said.

“We cannot compete.”

and then there's Gunnar Nielsen!

Great stuff, it's great to see that we still support the youngsters.

Bye Bye Kasper

He still here?!

With Hart AND Schmeichel wanting out, City are going to have to figure something out. Hopefully, Hart will stay and fight for his position while learning from one of the best. As for KS, I would not let him leave other than on a loan to a lower division club where he will actually play first team football.
