City submit CL squad

Phillips not in the squad I notice. But he's still on our books. I feel sorry for the bloke, honestly. Could it be any clearer that we don't want him? Presumably he's got an agent. I'd be on to him, I'd say "Look, I'll drop down a division if I have to, I'll take a cut in wages, I just desperately want to be playing competitive football. Get me an offer from a credible club in the Championship”.

I appreciate that, but seems strange to be paying someone but not giving them an opportunity to play if needed & availaible. As far as I can see there is no loan opportunities in E&W until January. I note that Philips and Wilson-Esbrand have been included in PL squad. I guess Mbete and Wilson-Esbrand could be released/paid-off from their contracts to give them opportunities - but as we have discussed elsewhere it is probably too expensive to release Philips.

I'd not looked at the PL list TBH and wasn't aware that Phillips and Wilson-Esbrand had both been included in our PL squad. I had the thought that they could still loan to the EFL for a few days but not apparently. One of the foreign leagues that are still open I suppose.

Feel like it's got to be 4-2-3-1

Let's you play an overlapping full back in Nunes while still having the 2 CDM protection, then Cherki or Foden get the freedom of 10 and savinho or bobb can drift inside with Nunes on the overlap.

Sack off the invering full back and if we're dropping into a 3 at the back in possession just put Rodri/Nico in the back line for build up.

Plus we can't use Ederson as an outfielder in possession any more and we won't want to encourage a press so it makes sense to build a base further up the pitch (although that means you rely on the pace of khusanov and Nunes in recovery).

Had heard this Bettolini bloke is out until Jan so an injury to Donn or Trafford would leave us short, could be bollocks !

He's got a serious achilles injury Phillips he can't play for months.

I've only heard people alluding to it on podcasts and stuff, AFAIK the club is radio silent on it at the moment. Seems to be a policy as I don't have a clue what's up with Josko or Savinho either.

Will never happen. He wants £££ more than he wants to play football. We are stuck with him until 2028.
He was raised in poverty with his father in jail so I think he will want to ensure he is set for life by sitting out the rest of his contract.
A terrible signing by any measure. Like Grealish it will be an interesting chapter in Pep's post City biography.
 
There are 25 players on the list not 26.

There are 2 missed off being Phillips and Esbrand.

That’s a squad of 27. For those arguing if the squad is big or small it’s average as 28 is the average squad size in the PL on transfermarkt.

Personally I would have kept Echeverri.

Why not? If he stays then it doesn't leave him isolated, if he goes makes no difference as we wouldn't have registered anyone else anyway.
