Does it not stop him playing in Europe for another club until January though? Perhaps the unconfirmed rumours of Bettinelli's injury are true after all.Why not? If he stays then it doesn't leave him isolated, if he goes makes no difference as we wouldn't have registered anyone else anyway.

We arent keeping Ortega around as third choice because of a supposed serious injury to Bettinelli. If the injury is true, we could easily get another 3rd choice keeper, we could even have brought back Carson on a short term deal.
I have a suspicion that we may yet try and keep Ortega as number 2 next season if he's happy with it role as we can expect Trafford to want out after signing Donnarumma.

It wouldn't surprise me, Donnarumma was not a factor when Traff signed for us but has effectively killed his career at City. They are directly linked. The club could not be sure there would be room in the squad for them because of Ortega (and others) exercising their contractual rights in a way that damaged our rebuild. Not because the likes of Echeverri and Reis will benefit more on loan.There not linked in anyway, the plan was to loan those players out.

I heard that Marcus Bettinelli is injured hence we were reluctant to let Ortega leave in the window.Think the reasoning behind it is simply covering the possibility of Donnarumma getting a nasty injury during the international break.

Spurs CL squad leaves out Dragusin, Bissouma, Maddison, Kulusevski, Tel and Takai. Maddison and Kulusevski have long term injuries, but still that's poor management.

Earlier in the summer i predicted a change in squad compositions with players missing out on certain squads becoming more common and looks like we are already starting to see it elsewhere if not here. Its the only way to cope with the schedule
Whether he is 22 or 30 doesnt matter, what matters is the new number 1 is 26, and unless there is a catastrophe, he's going to remain number 1 for the entirety of Traffords contract.Trafford is 22, not 30.
