City Treble documentary | Club sell rights to Netflix for seven figure sum | To be aired in April (p5)

When I see Khaldoon on these things…..

I used to think really smart eloquent business man who really gives a fuck about our core fan base

I now think really smart eloquent business man who absolutely doesn’t give a fuck about our core fan base

I am glad I am in my mid 60’s because our club is inevitably going to get more and more plastic. My kids who are mid to late teens can already see how plastic the club is becoming relative to what they can first remember

The football is beautiful, the dilution of our soul is really fucking sad

What there should have been Is more candid conversations between the players, rather than just clips of everyone fooling around.
Peps speech after Southampton was great to watch, and as he left the room I thought "here we go, some proper conflict and finger pointing between the players" but it just cut to a dog, or a foot massage, probably!
There's certain minimum requirements needed for a fly on the wall doc, and conflict is right up there.
On the whole, I did enjoy it very much.

Yeah, but I guess the club have the overall say and what goes out and I suppose they didn't want too much finger pointing etc. It's then too easy for the media to start creating bollocks out of it, saying certain players don't get along etc etc.

Same as we'd probably all love to see Pep's tactics in more depth, but that's not gonna happen. Like boxers training camp footage, they're showing tiny bits and not giving away gameplans

Would it have made a better documentary? Absolutely. But all its a bit of light entertainment for Netflix... It's not worth making a warts and all documentary for the media to jump all over when the documentary is low down on our list of priorities.

If a documentary is you're livelihood then of course you should go all out.

Found it a good watch, made me realise that no matter how good they are, they still have doubts in the big games and sometimes wait and hope someonelse does something. The results of those games reflect that, if they are all up for it we win, if we’re not we don’t win.Thry always want to win, but sometimes nerves takes their legs away. So maybe I shouldn’t be so critical sometimes.Amazing what they have achieved over ten years or more.Easy to be greedy

I just found it slightly tone deaf towards the price increases and ticketing policy at present to have him blowing smoke up his bosses arse and saying how much is was special and deserved for HRH to be in istanbul, it was special for us all, and saly we are being forced more and more to not be a part of this glorious future

The club made it! And edited it. Then sold it on

You cannot please all of the people all of the time is very evident from comments here but i been around Bluemoan enough to know this is the norm.

The programme is what it is, a simple showing of the incredible season we had.

I have watched a few episodes and what i have taken is how much Pep himself loves this club.

The episode where the 115 charges are announced he is seen later in the middle of the players in the changing room and he tells them from now on they will do a huddle before games, he tells them how much he loves City, he says he does not know why but he does, he tells them they have won everything on the pitch and deserve respect.

That there was what won us the treble and I for one feel honoured and blessed to have him as our manager.

Are you suggesting there are 62,000 core supporters in and around Manchester that can afford 2 tickets per week?

Those “plastics” help fund the club at full price. They buy tat from the shop and they do things like Club Tours and hospitality.

We LOVE bragging that we are the most successful commercial club in the world, which allows us to not worry about FFP anymore and buy top, top talent from all over the world, YET we complain about a few thousand tickets going to our growing global fan base???

Been around this roundabout before, but City season cards have been better value for money than anyone else’s for a decade. The club put a 3rd tier on the South Stand and broadened the hospitality. They’re building a hotel and another tier at the North Stand, while making a Fan Zone that can hold 3,000 fans. Who do you think is going to book some of those extra seats and hotel rooms? Locals who get their pints from a local boozer before and after the game and never spend a penny at the ground or punters who flew in from Singapore for a once in a lifetime trip to see City in real life and spend a few thousand quid on the experience?

Lastly, just what constitutes a “plastic,” as I want to make sure that as a match goer since the late 60’s, but now living overseas and not able to see as many games as I’d like, I want to try to stay on the “real fan” side of the fence and not be a “plastic.”

Like your username Bring Back Swales. An era when the club was so much more for the fan base but maybe just a little less successful
