Their last game- Heracles 3 Ajax 3
They apparently wasted a 2-0 and 3-1 lead, with Luis Pedro snatching an injury-time equaliser for Heracles.
The opposition scored in the 80th and 90th minutes. Sound familiar?

Would appreciate clarification on the suspension aspect. How many yellow cards are needed and do they get carried through into the knock-out stages? KBB says that Kompany and Yaya have two yellows already.

I think the cards do get carried over. I seem to remember some Real Madrid (or Barcelona possibly) players deliberately getting themselves booked so they would only miss a nothing game against a the bottom team when they had already qualified. The rules could have changed or i could be completely wrong!

As for our team, I would go for: Hart, Zabaleta, Richards, Nastasic, Kolarov, Milner, Barry, Toure, Nasri, Aguero, Dzeko. We need to be better defensively but we also need to be careful that our forwards don't become detached from the rest of the team like they did against Dortmund. Also, I wouldn't risk Silva for this game. Even if it is 'must win'.

2 yellows for a suspension and they don't get carried over.

Everything gets reset for the knockout stages.

-------------------------------Hart-------------------------------------

Clichy--------------Lescott--------------Nastasic------------Richards---

-------------------------------Barry--------------------------------------

-------------Milner------------Yaya---------------Nasri-------------------

------------------------------Tevez--------------------------------------

------------------------------Aguero-------------------------------------

I know Dzeko has performed very well lately, but still think Aguero and Tevez is the best option up front.

2-1 City

Can someone explain to me why Kompany can't play?

But if he can't I would go for a team like this:

-----------------------Hart----------------------
Zabaleta----Richards---Lescott-------Clichy
---------------Milner------Barry---------------
Nasri----------------Yaya--------------Aguero
----------------------Dzeko---------------------

I personally would not want to leave Tevez out of the team, but on this form, Dzeko has to start. Dzeko is a confidence player and hopefully he will carry on his good form. If Silva is fit, I'd play him over Nasri.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mancini went 4-4-2 though and went for the kill. We have more than enough to take Ajax, but I just wonder whether he will stick on the side of caution and stick 5 in the middle again.

Either way I think we can get a result

It is not going to be easy but we should have enough to cause them problems as well and get a win. A tough call on whether Silva will be fit for this game, but other than that a similar line up to the West Brom game and the same attitude.

Do Ajax have any injuries or suspensions?

And have they been considerably weakened by Vertonghen, van der Wiel, and Anita leaving? They are 4th in Holland at the moment but they tend to bounce back from selling players and I remember them playing the rags off the park at Old Trafford and beating them 2-1 last season.

Hart
Zaba. Micah. Lescott. Kolarov

Jimmy. Yaya Gaz baz

Sergio.
Edin
Harsh on Tevez as I feel he's playing well but his goals have dried up and Edin really deserves a few starts now.. Come on city!

I personally believe this is the first real test of our players determination to win and progress this season.

This is simply a must win game, lose and we are in the Europa in my opinion, which quite frankly is embarrassing for the the amount of quality we possess.

We have to be looking at getting 10 points from our remaining fixtures to go through if you ask me; 6 points of Ajax, a win and a draw from either Real Madrid or Dortmund, this will give us 11 points.

Two bookings in the competition mean an automatic suspension. As for Silva, NO WAY should he be risked at this early stage of his recovery. Mind you, according to KBB in another thread, it requires 3 bookings in the group stage to get a suspension, so who knows? 3 certainly sounds more reasonable.<br /><br />-- Tue Oct 23, 2012 2:32 pm --<br /><br />

If we lose, what makes you think we will qualify for the Europa League? Ajax may have other ideas if they do somehow beat us.
