Holy shit, what are some of you lot on, it's a friendly with the most mixed up city side you could ever see, players getting run outs left right and centre, nowhere near our first 11, how the flying fuck can intelligent posters turn into complete fuckin morons,
I've read shit like he's finished, extend pre season, got to go, txixi out, it'll take months, we need 50 points etc etc etc, do me favour. Look at what it was and how many changes and think about Saturday and how we could line up.

have you never read the match day thread when we lose ? its as if the world has ended :) even for a friendly

I think Kolarov, Zabba & Silva are all off the pace & it will be interesting to see how much they can improve. All 3 were responsible for the first goal along with Hart. Slva not pressing & the other two just too slow. The 3rd even though it was a dogshit pass from Tosin, it would have been an easy recovery for any of the usual cbs maybe even Demichelis.

Kolarov Zabba & Silva all look like they have lost 2 yards of pace over the past year to me.

Yaya who has supposed to be past it, looks yards ahead of all 3 imo.
No mention of Cichys awful cross which left players caught out of position for the first?

I'm not going to bother with the negatives since we all know exactly what they were.

Positives:
Game time for match sharpness.
Sterling and Navas both looked good and got a great assist each.
No injuries.
Touré looked more alive than he ever did last season.
Aguero was good.
We won the ball 8-10 times high up the pitch just by high pressing, just don't know what to do when we win it yet.
Delph+Dinho made solid defensive tackles.
Solid return from KDB.
We now know for a fact that Fernando and Kolarov aren't CB's.
Zinchenko looked up for it.
Both strikers scored.

Agree that this pre-season was awfully planned on the club's part and seemed to be driven by a need for more money.

We have to remember that Arsenal are probably the hardest premier league oponent to play with this system....were still learning with our better technical players to come back into the team....the worry is that Pep thought Kolarov and Fernando could play CB together.......hopefully lesson learnt.....lets continue to improve and judge things 3-4 games in. Its certainly going to be exciting !!

Hart wrists look really weak at the mo a lot of shots going thro him! Good work out players looked shaged after 60mins tho tosin to sloppy on the ball needs a loan away for a season I think kolarovs passing ability might just find him a place in the team midfield 3 looked booked for sunderland was not impressed with nolito but thought sterling looked better and naas and kdb were livley when coming on .

Ota injured I believe, mangala and Denyar must be feeling pretty despondent, imagine seeing kolorov and Fernando playing in your position

Exactly, if I saw them 2 clowns playing in front of me, I doubt I'd ever regain my confidence. Surely they can't be as bad as them...surely.

Like how the pundits were bemoaning Arsenal's defence and amount of injured/missing players... yet never mentioned our make-shift backline, just slagged off our defending!

Sorry I disagree. This was our final match before the real stuff starts and are we really going to start with Willy in goal, Zabaleta at right back and Kolarov as CB?

We had Denayer & Tosin available and left Mangala & Otamendi out. This pre-season has been a disaster in terms of planning. Too few matches coupled with International tournaments and players returning late have given Pep precious little time to assess what he has and what he needs.

We were poor generally and shocking defensively and I would again put this down to Pep not having anywhere near the required time to do his thing. Patience is the key here, and we may have to suck up a few more disjointed displays and defeats in the short term until things settle down and the manager starts to get his plans across.

I always said Pep's job wasn't going to be as easy as some may have thought because he has a lot of things that were broken to mend with precious little time to do it in. We just need to keep the faith and play the long game. This season will be a marathon not a sprint, it's just a pity that things look a bit more rosey in the distance than they do in the present.......

why hasnt sagna been given a go at cb? he can play there and can play the ball? a much better option than Kolarov?

yup...

he made the same mistake vs dortumd as well though...all i was pointing out though was that people are baling hart for the second goal when in reality it was tosin making the same mistake that he has previously made that caused the goal.....people don't want to blame the young lad so blame hart instead
They're two different passages of play. Just because the defender makes a mistake doesn't mean we should just shrug our shoulders at the next stage where Hart should be making the save. Had it been tucked in the corner then fair enough but it was nowhere near.
The ones failing to see the errors because they want to back Hart are far worse than those saying he should be doing better.

Always gonna be a bit dodgy at the back today without any recognised CB's.

To be honest, I was more disappointed with the inability of our more experienced players to keep the ball in midfield (Hence our total lack of creativity, for the most part, in the attacking third.

Good run out.

I do think we will have a bit of a slow start in the PL, not from being undercooked as such, but just from the players still learning the style that Guardiola wants them to play (which takes a while to pick up anyway, let alone in a preseason post an international tournament).

I have a feeling we will click after 10 or so games and not feel the full benefits until next season, when we have a couple more additions and the players know Guardiola and he knows the PL. As a consequence, I'm expecting us to finish top 3 this year and any more is a bonus.

That's fine by me though as watching this team evolve into what he wants them to be (even if it fails at times, which I'm sure it will do) will be fascinating to watch.
