Get real folks, Pep has not had long enough to prepare, it will be November until we start to see his stamp on the side working. You can see what he is trying to do with the defence but they are not technically good enough on the ball at present. We need to grind out results until then.

I haven't read the thread but I'd like to point out that we were shite in pre-season last year, then we won our first five games in the Premier League.

Didn't do much In terms of keeping the ball or linking the play but as usual found the net with his only chance.
I think you're describing Kelechi there. Nolito was OK, not a first team starter IMO, too slow. He's probably mid-table PL level, but playing like that perhaps that's where we will be? ;-) I like Pep's philosophy I just hope the players start to adopt it quickly.

Absolutely, we need to grow some balls as fans and hang in there. We knew that Pep would play a completely different style to what we've seen before and there's no way it was going to be all perfect after a few weeks training.

Are you basing this entirely on today's showing?

No more than a training exercise, I wouldn't waste a minute worrying about the performance (as a team or from individuals). 21 players given some time on the pitch, fitness levels will have improved a bit. We will be absolutely fine come the start of the season.
It was a really good exercise. Played with some intensity and against good opposition. And we need to do something about the central defence

I liked the pressing. I think we'll get a few goals on the back of forwards forcing defenders to make mistakes.

On the plus side, I think we just need personnel in defence. On the negative side I don't know whether Mangala, Otamendi or Kompany will be available.

Something we struggle with usually.

I think it will be next season before we really see the benefits.

So ?

Are you suggesting that he will do it forever or is he going to stop doing it ? If he's going to stop doing it, how do you know that won't be after today ?

Law of averages would tell us he's 18years old, never played a full 90 minutes in the prem and Pep is telling us (the fans) he has alot to learn and isnt ready. That all points to the fact this is likely to happen again, while Pep teaches him how to be a Prem league CB. I'm not saying he shouldnt be in the squad but at the most I would only want/expect to see him in a few Cup games while he learns under Pep this season...We got enough problems at the CB position without counting on an inexperienced 18 year old to hold things together in my opinion!

Agree probably be a season similar to pellegrini's where at one point we 6th after a dozen games and 3 away games.

Why the suprise. We are a team in major transition. New coach, new players, new tactics etc etc.

There are some dreamers on here that think it's all just going to click into place & that other teams can't or won't be able to stop us.

Get real people. We're under prepared & the next 5 months will be choppy.

BTW......before the apologists & attack dogs pipe up,not a rag,not a flapper,not a wummer

Ha, yeah my mistake. Totally agree with your assessment of Nolito and although he was cheap he looks a strange signing for a team looking to play a pressing game.

Just to put these games in to perspective Barca lost 4-0 to Liverpool yesterday.

I'm pretty confident that wouldn't happen if they played in a competitive fixture.

I'm also confident that Pep won't play Fernando and Kolarov at centre back together!

Pipe the fuck down the lot of you, ffs get a grip.
Correct
Wait till we lose in the Prem then Bm will go Tap Tap Boom
Excuses will of course include (My Favourite from last Season ) The Ballboys not returning the ball quick enough

My on,y worry is the fact that NONE of our senior CBs have even had any time on an actual pitch - Ota, kompany and Managala. This is my only concern as CBs require to have developed a trust/partnership , more so now than ever due to the new playing it out from the back approach.m

Cant wait for the fall out when Kolarov is in next saturdays line up at CB ;)

Fine by me. Better than Fernando who does nothing except pass backwards or give it away. I expect Kolarov or Clichy to start at CB given that Ota is injured, Manuals not ready and Pep doesn't like Denayer.
