City v Arsenal pre-match thread

We have not been convincing for two months now. Arsenal still looked good even though they lost against Everton. By the time we roll over at Liverpool I can see us being outside top four (or even outside top five - gulp!) Hope I am wrong but my Christmas looks full of woe and bad tidings....must remind myself that Christmas is a time to have faith!
Bah humbug :-(

I think we should go 4-1-4-1 again. Bravo did enough yesterday to keep his place (one decent save and no goals) and the defence looked more solid as a four. Drop Clichy. Fernando as the DM as he will be good at breaking up Arsenal's play. Can't decide between Nacho or Nolito up top - either would be good as a sub after 60/70 mins if we need a goal.

So I'd go for:

Bravo
Zaba Stones Otamendi Kolarov
Fernando
Sterling DeBruyne Silva Sane
Nacho or Nolito

We need a drastic change in confidence, tempo and energy. We will struggle I think.Hoping for an early xmas present and 3 points.
Get behind the team. Booing Bravos name when ready out is a disgrace if you like him or not. I am not keen myself. It will only harm his confidence.
Improved atmosphere and effort from the stands to show the team we are there will help.

Given our record against the big teams I'd be happy with a draw at this stage- it'd be enough to keep Arsenal within a point and it'll keep us in the top four. If we can win either here or against Liverpool then I'd be thrilled.

I don't often say this but it'll be embarrassing if we don't beat Hull.

Amazing how some posters have lost complete confidence in Pep because the Goons are arriving in town , the perennial bottlers of the premier league. Wenger's teams are good if you allow them to play so we need combative midfield and forward line to press them for 90 minutes , would like to see nacho and fernando start they are mobile and close down. Will be an interesting game which will hinge on how our defence deal with the likes of Ozil and Sanchez and how they deal with Merlin,KDB,Yaya, Sterling etc. This could be any score and i am nt brave enough to predict the result , but we need the three points to stop the press crowning Chelski champions on Sunday

The ironic cheer when he mad a save was pathetic , some suppporters need to realise Joe is'nt coming back and nothing will change that , let's get behind the players at the stadium and vent our spleen on here with the armchair brigade

Going to be a tough one, if we can play offensively like we did against Chelsea we will be ok, you never know what you are going to get with City these days which is worrying, no consistency at all. We need points from this one, even a draw not a disaster, providing we can turn Hull over and get something at Clanfield.

We have to be in touch when we come out of the Xmas fixtures, 7 points adrift maximum, if not it's going to be a scrap for a CL place at best.

City are more than capable of going on a great run and clawing our way back but the defence needs to turn up and we need to start converting the plethora of chances we create.

Everton showed on Tuesday how to beat Arsenal. Be physical, be energetic, don't let them bully you. Put pressure on them and they'll make mistakes.
With that in mind:

Bravo
Sagna
Otamendi
Stones
Kolarov
Fernando
Touré
Sterling
De Bruyne
Sané
Nolito

Nolito must start, our record with him in the XI is too good to ignore. Just hope he keeps his cool.
Sterling looked brilliant in the second half last night.
Not sure Silva should be dropped but De Bruyne certainly can't be with his assist count.
Big game needed from Touré.
