The KDB free-kick was genius. Next time he can send it narrowly over the wall, because they daren't jump.

A bi feature of our game seems to be the long switching passes out to Sterling and Nolito. We've played with wingers for years, but I'm seeing a lot more of these long accurate passes to the wings than ever before.

Great to see Sterling blossom and recover his confidence. This is the player we signed from Liverpool.

Also good that we've managed to turn the Aguero suspension into a positive. Successive goals for Kelechi and a rested Aguero. Thanks Man Utd fans!

Pep had his team use those diagonals a lot at Bayern and it's a great weapon when you have Kolarov in the kind of form he currently is - tbf he is doing something he has not been allowed or asked to do to the extent he did yesterday - because it can help to isolate our winger one on one but, also, so long as our CB hits them when the team are pushed up and compact, if the winger does not get the ball, it is not in a position where our opponent can easily mount a counter attack; whilst we can get in their faces and win the ball back quickly. One of those many things that show that Pep is not into tiki-taka.

I was making this point in the thread where everyone was wanking over Bayern knocking mainly harmless 5 yard passes about for 5 mins. It's not how they played the other 85 & it's not how they evolved to play, in the years after.

They pick out isolated players & change the angle. It's a key part of Pep's play.

Yup, he wants to move the opposition defence about, disorganise them and create space for (one of) his own players.

And he's categorically stated that he hates passing for the sake of it. They pass to create something; if it doesn't come off, they recycle possession (rather than running down a blind alley) and start again.

Straight red is 3. What a plonker.

Is it just me BUT the ref was wearing a red shirt?.- Shirley someone(an official) should have told him to change it - Bournemouth were playing in Red /Black.
Nolito was a plonker - , I agree.

Yeah just after kick off I was looking for the ref and couldn't find him as he had virtually the same kit on as the Bournemouth players. I was convinced he was gonna have to go off and change or that he would definitely come out for the 2nd half in a different kit

I noticed him because he was the fattest one on the pitch

i spent most of yesterday in and around the Arnedale, basking in the glory, and my goodness theres tons more city shirts than united's. It felt quite surreal as i have spent nearly 25 years wearing city attire seemingly all by myself in south wales and yesterday there were city tops galore :-)

It was dark pink, but it was very very similar to bournemouths kit both having black shorts and black socks. Considering how anal they are about colour clashes I am actually surprised the ref and his assistants wore it.

Fully agree a couple of time I mistook the fucker for a cherry. But what a great day. The morning football/boxing victory over the Baby Rags followed by an intoxicating display in the afternoon in a stadium starting to rock again. However, it is a bit early to start getting carried away. We have beaten the bottom four and a team that really should be in the bottom four. The season has not really started yet in terms of serious competition but we look well placed to deal with in when it arrives.
