It won't be, but I'd love it if we were playing the Mancini 4222 today
That would have been my preferred pick before the team announcement. Without Sterling and with Sané not really hitting his marks yet, we don't really have options out wide. Back four with Walker and Mendy at full-back, two orthodox midfielders (ideally Fernandinho and Gundogan, but Danilo seems a decent pick), Silva and De Bruyne (or Bernardo) playing narrow from right and left, and two up top.
Could be that, I suppose, but like you say, highly unlikely. Seems there are at least four or five viable permutations with those eleven, though - interested to see what he's gone for.

I think this is the longest pre-match thread I have seen.
Just want to be part of it. :p

Fair play to Pep.

On paper that's a team which respects the opposition & not some airy fairy clown configuration. Matchwinning potential on the bench for after their 20 mins of running flat out 2nd half.

No guarantee we won't fuck up but at least we are not sticking our arses in the air & asking to get fucked.

I suppose the thing about the number of options is that we'll probably see that system for a period of the game. Flexible players like Danilo are a godsend

Hate this starting line up. But I've loved other line ups only for us to not play good, so hopefully this can be the reverse.

If we're not taking leadership thing into account, Danilo is actually more suitable player for RCB position that Kompany in 352, it's essentially a fullback role. Guess we'll be fine defensively today.

Team looks decent imo. Can see Sane and Bernardo hurting them from the bench as well. Player for player we a vastly superior hope we are as hungry and physical
