Given
Richards Kompany Lescott Bridge
Viera Barry
Bellers Tevez Johnson
Adebajor

15 minutes DC Electro-shock to be applied to each player (excluding Bellamy) before leaving the dressing room
plus additional 5 minutes booster of the same therapy at half time.

I share the same gutted frustration of any other but, while anybody has rightly entitled to have his preference in terms of managers/tactics,
it is quite fair to understand that there is no manager in the world who address his team sayng: "well guy, go on the pitch, play the arranged stuff for 20 minutes and then sit down and watch the oppenents continuing to play! and in case the most long thrower of the league should play a lineout, pay attention to stand firm and watch the striker headballing alone in the box."

Errr, I think we need to win this one.

Oaah this is the most interesting game in this month!

I live in Georgia (a small country in Caucasus)

and well Liverpool has more fans here but City fans grow everyday

2-1 City

I like your lineup MANCIO4EVER. In my view that's our best starting 11 and should be able to get the result we need.

Tevez won't be back according to the Mail. Sorry but I don't agree with the earlier poster's lineup coz De Jong simply has to play. First name on the team sheet.

Any reliable news about Carlito's comeback?

I canvassed the web without any usefull result.
I even read the "Clarin", the most important Argentine paper, that only reckon the compassionate leave due to his second daughter birth. No problem of health had been reported there about mother and child.

I mean, I am not insensible, I know what family and citizenship mean to Argentine, but Liverpool is a crucial game and Carlos is too important! For his attitute even before his world class.

in the unfortunate circumstance, I'd revert to 4-4-2 and start:

Given
Richards Kompany Lescott Bridge
Johnson De Jong Viera Barry
Bellers Adebajor

Which have the potential to display either pure 4-4-2 or diamond.

I see Your ponit and I am a huge estimator of Nigel too.
But imo, against 'pool would be important to impose the play rather than to break it, cause otherwise we risk to enter the reds in their most confortable scenario. nigel is the best tackler in the world but he's not able to feature a rapid circulation: imo not because he is that poor at passing but because he does not see enough the other midfielders ongoing. It is not a case that barry performs better alongside viera.

I know is risky with our "children" at midfield, but imho is the most correct approach.
Anyway, as per my previous post, if Tevez will not be available, the problem is sadly solved.

-------------------Given

Richards---Kompany(c)---Lescott---Bridge

--------------Barry----De Jong

SWP--------------Ireland----------Johnson

--------------Adebayor/Tevez (if back i'd start him)

HUGE game, a "size=200" game, you might say.

no official word on Tevez. the mail reported that he wouldn't be back, but Mancini only commented that he would miss yesterdays game and said he didn't know when he would return. Personally I doubt he will feature. I have to think that maybe there are things that are not being reported in the media regarding the health of his family.

I sincerely hope that Bellers and Kompany have been kept on ice for this game, we have missed them badly. if Kompany plays, on current form you would clearly pair him with Lescott , which leaves the interesting possibility that the captain might be dropped. Bridge will surely play, so Lescott won't fit in at left back, the only other possibility is if Toure starts at RB, but as richards is in good form I think this is unlikely.

Much as I'd like to see a fully functioning Steven Ireland in the midfield, the truth seems to be that we don't have one. And none of the wingers are playing well. SWP's crossing is a disaster, Petrov has lost all interest, it would seem, only Johnson would merit a place. So I think the team more or less picks itself....

Given
Richards Kompany Lescott Toure
---------------NDJ
-----------Viera-- Barry
Johnson------------------ Bellamy
--------------Adebayor

NDJ should be tasked with marking Gerrard, leaving Barry and Viera free to battle it out with Mascherano and Lucas/Aquilani(presumably Lucas will get the nod, Rafa would probably see Aquilani as a risky choice in a big away game, until he gets more Premier League experience)

as for Liverpool, Carragher will probably be patched up and wheeled out, and Benayoun seems likely to play some part, probably in place of Rodriguez who hasn't settled at all yet. the big question surrounds Torres. although Rafa said he would be unlikely to feature, his recovery has gone well, he is now running again (!), so he might be tempted to play him, even if he is only 70% fit. Personally I think it's unlikely that he will. Ngog is a very mediocre replacement and I would back us to beat them if he plays. The only concerns are that Kuyt can cause a lot of problems, and Gerrard and Mascherano are individually far better midfielders than De Jong Barry and Vieira. Arsenal, without any centre forward whatsoever, beat them but were a little lucky. we have to hope that Rafa selects quite a strong team for their UEFA cup game on Thursday, Unirea actually did well in their Champions League campaign.

Liverpool will be fired up for this, and so should we. I wouldn't read to much into recent form, we have a habit of raising ourselves against the top four. Barry, Bellamy and Adebayor are the key for me, if we get good games out of them, the rest should fall into place. A draw would be a decent result, but I think we need to win this to have any real advantage in the race for fourth. We've got in good positions in matches recently and failed to capitalise. Lets hope the adrenaline of the situation gets us off to a decent start, and lasts long enough to get us over the line.
