City v Liverpool. Yankee Stadium July 30th

The thing i was most impressed with last night was our high pressing, our ability to get the ball back off them quickly and our counter attack.

We won't always be able to play as we did last night with our best team as players like Silva & Yaya just aren't built for the pressing game but it was good to watch.

I'm more than encouraged. The new signings look good, but more imprtantly it was our reserves, and you can see them playing the City/Pellegrini style throughout the team. It's not long since as soon as we diluted our first team we became pedestrian, short of tempo, lacking in penetration. Not any more. Even the kids are playing pass and move, and we are coming at teams like lightning.

Of course these are only friendlies. But I agree totally they're showing our further evolution as a club and under Pellegrini. Great advert for City and the Premier League, too, and played in a good spirit.

Absolutely.

The possible permutations for the team this season are mind boggling; so long as we are not afflicted by an abnormal run of injuries. Obviously a few players will have to go but it could be a real bonus if lads like Nacho and Zuc stay with the first team squad this season.

The thing about the injuries is that I see that as exactly what the manager is addressing. Last season at key times injuries, and the big gulf in class in certain areas, really affected us. Whenever Kompany, Silva or Fernandinho were injured we struggled. Mangela, Sagna and Fernando, and to a certain extent the new keeper, will really help us to maintain standards with injuries, and to rotate the likes of Zab and Fernandinho better, keeping them fresher. We still have a potential problem if Silva is out, but the addition of Fernando means Yaya can fill in, and Jovetic is proving to be top drawer and can play in the hole too.

Given a bit of luck I wouldn't rule out a run to the Champions League semi or final this year.
I was about to say before getting to your Jovetic comment that he lessens my worry if Silva is out. Hopefully the injuries are behind him.

I seem to remember we started season with the high pressing which kind of faltered out about xmas, whether that was fitness or just the pace of the premier league, only the manager will know. Maybe Manuel just needs to pick and choose when to use this style based on the opposition.

Will be interesting to see if NYCFC will start and have 2-3 seasons what kind of fan base they will have and how would like a Pool-City game in terms of popularity in 2017 after NYCFC had been playing 2-3 seasons in MLS, would it create lot more fans for City too, would NYCFC fans attend the game vs friendly as a "City fan" or maybe they would just as neutral but yesterday it looked like 80% Pool fans 20% neutral and City fans in the about 50.000 poeple watching the game.

A game vs MU in the final probably would look "worse", they have more fans in US than Pool.

Will be interesting where we are in terms of these in next 3 years, next 5-10 years. If we keep winning some trophies in England, doing hopefully lot better in CL, maybe having some extra influence trough sister clubs around the world, it should change big time. Well thats the plan for sure.

The most pleasing aspect for me this preseason is the fact that every player is able to play the system no wonder how much pellegirini emphasized on playing style, system rather than on results, and the way new lads like kelachi or zuculini have moulded into the system along with Fernando who will prove to be one of the best buys of the season, the way we dominated possession against milan and pool with mainly our reserves was a treat
Joveric always had quality,I think he should get a proper first team run from the start of the season
Great times ahead
Zucchini talks with so much geniuinely love for city is adorable, and I would love us to keep him,yes he did miss some chances but the good aspect is that he get hmself in good positions and has eye for a good pass,he can only improve, very exciting prospect

I also think Zuc, if they do not send him on loan, could help on that front. The boy can pick a pass and although he probably should have scored last night, he at least knows his way into the box.

were the goals regulation sized .... they looked like kiddie goals to me? and we were lucky not to lose 3-2, Sterling was onside. 3 goals to Hart's left again ... still think its his weak side.
