Saturday 3pm, a but strange after playing away in Europe on the Wednesday, and a bit of an advantage to Newcastle. We could have done with an extra days rest

Newcastle have started the season poorly with 3 points from 7 games.

Last season we thrashed them 5-0 in an evening Kick Off at home, but they also beat us at our place in the League Cup. We have a good record against them.

On paper if you were looking for a winnable fixture after a difficult away game in Europe you'd think this was a good fixture for us, but we're still struggling with injuries. Newcastle have a lot of injuries as well, however our injuries are to our big name players. Once again seems certain we will be without Mangala and Kompany in central defence and probably Toure as well.

I think we will look to freshen the team up where we can, given the midweek game, but there aren't that many options.

My team would be:

----------------------Hart
Zabaleta--Demichelis--Otamendi--Koloarov
-------------------Fernando
-----Navas--De Bruyne--Silva--Sterling
--------------------Aguero

I thought there were signs that Aguero was picking up against Borussia.

I'll take any kind of win. I don't think it will be great football, but I think the team will have been lifted by the midweek result, but tired

It will be good to go into the international week for a rest and get some injured players back with City top of the league, well placed in the Champions League and through to the next round of the League Cup.

The result will determine whether it has been a great start to the season or could do better.

I think this lot will cop for it Saturday,I can see this being a mauling.
Had there not been an European game then maybe, but you see European teams struggling at the weekend time and time again. Especially so after away games in Europe.

If Silva has no reaction to Wednesday that will be key. You'd have thought we should get a lot of the ball, and if Silva has it chances will result.

Interesting to see the team selection. We have gone pretty much balls out every game this season, all the big guns playing every game when they are fit enough (not necessarily 100%). This started to show against BM. Yaya looked knackered and Silva did not have his best game.
I assume they will both play but I would drop Yaya for Fernando and Silva for Navas. I’d bring them both on but I’d want some fresh legs and a good shape at the start.

I thought Toure had gone off injured but maybe not. Fernando had a good 2nd half. If Toure is OK, I think like I'd use Toure as a sub.

Win this game. Avoid more injuries, then we should be in a very good position when the league restarts after the international break

GMR coverage suggested he started the game less than 100% fit and went off to prevent further injury. I would assume from that he could play but he clearly isn’t 100%.
