Don't even need to push it, it's happened! It's the only reason for that sub today... to see who would be a better pick there. And Delph smashed it to be fair to him. Could be a bit of a revival for him.
When Mendy came off, then Stones, we reverted to the wingers on the touchline and the fullbacks "inverted." Gave Delph the opportunity to come inside and score that cracker....with his standing foot, no less!!!
Sané was irresistible on the left wing. Two exquisite assists that would have been enough on their own, but the twinkle toes control he showed for his goal [which would have had the media creaming if it had been a rag (Rashford?) or Chelski (Hazard) player] was absolute class. Knew what his only option was and had the technical ability to pull off what his instincts told him. To finish with the nutmeg was just the cherry on the icing on the cake!
Sterling took his goals well, because it is being in the right place at the right time that pays dividends, and both runs were excellent.
Sergio's header was really all about the cross, which may have been the best cross of the season so far....and that is saying something in this team! However, heading it back where it came from, with power, is what made it a goal! So happy for him given his workrate and he even chipped in with his own brilliant assist!
First half was tired and ordinary. Felt a bit like last season....double decker parked, with the occasional breakaway causing us more trouble than it should...but that second half was all "City '17-'18!"
Excellent way to go into the CL game midweek.
