Don't even need to push it, it's happened! It's the only reason for that sub today... to see who would be a better pick there. And Delph smashed it to be fair to him. Could be a bit of a revival for him.
When Mendy came off, then Stones, we reverted to the wingers on the touchline and the fullbacks "inverted." Gave Delph the opportunity to come inside and score that cracker....with his standing foot, no less!!!

Sané was irresistible on the left wing. Two exquisite assists that would have been enough on their own, but the twinkle toes control he showed for his goal [which would have had the media creaming if it had been a rag (Rashford?) or Chelski (Hazard) player] was absolute class. Knew what his only option was and had the technical ability to pull off what his instincts told him. To finish with the nutmeg was just the cherry on the icing on the cake!

Sterling took his goals well, because it is being in the right place at the right time that pays dividends, and both runs were excellent.

Sergio's header was really all about the cross, which may have been the best cross of the season so far....and that is saying something in this team! However, heading it back where it came from, with power, is what made it a goal! So happy for him given his workrate and he even chipped in with his own brilliant assist!

First half was tired and ordinary. Felt a bit like last season....double decker parked, with the occasional breakaway causing us more trouble than it should...but that second half was all "City '17-'18!"

Excellent way to go into the CL game midweek.

Mentioned in the pre-match thread that I would be interested in seeing how Mendy and Walker got on in the game and how effective they would be in helping us break Palace down. Hard to assess Mendy; he strikes me as someone who knows he has energy and pace to spare, but he's still coming to terms with the the speed of the game, hence the booking(s) that he's picked up. Walker is a more curious one. Defensively he looks incredibly sound, especially in recovery, but in the first half today, I don't think he played a decent ball when played into a good position, and he also looked reluctant to go beyond the last man. Perhaps I'm still expecting someone like Zabaleta on that side, but Danilo arguably looked more of an offensive threat in the later stages of the game. Anyway, will be fascinating to see how they develop and to see which pairings Guardiola goes for when they are all fit.

apologies if asked and answered already, but when was the last time a PL team won three league games in a row by 5 or more goals?

OptaJoe @OptaJoe

5 - Man City are the 1st side to score 5+ goals in 3 consecutive top-flight games in the same season since Blackburn in 58-59. Unstoppable.

Blackburn scored 5+ in 3 consecutive games, they didn't necessarily win by 5 goals in those games

First half was dull. we moved the ball about so slow.
second half was decent. despite the score, i think Pep wants that by half time against teams like that. then fuck about

PEP: (on @benmendy23) Tomorrow, we are going to make a real test. Hopefully, it is just a kick. We will see the situation tomorrow.
Hoping it is just knee to knee, but he did himself! He lined him up for the foul because he didn't want to make the run, but then he had his right leg planted when he fouled him, and that's when the impact came on the outside of his right knee. I'd say it's 50-50 whether it's a tweak of a ligament or an impact injury. Usually, a knock will be fine while you're "up" and the adrenaline is flowing during the game and sore as hell afterwards, but it was pretty clear he couldn't run at speed once he came back on, which makes me fear the worst.

The one thing we don't exactly know is what he felt. They checked the knee was stable before he came back on, but unless there is a tear or rupture, the adrenaline can hide a sprain or even mild tear. Fingers and toes crossed!

Very sloppy first 30 after that pure joy, Raz is looking like Pep has got into his head, Kev just a delight,. Hope Benny is Ok
Really? I thought Kev had his worst game of the season today, he looked like he needed a rest to me, still love him though
