City v Sporting Kansas City 23rd July

Tottenham just played their first US friendly game this summer vs Seattle Sounders front of 55.000 fans...

Wonder how many will be there in City vs Kansas as this is our only game vs an American team.
Sporting Park only seats around 19,000 so probably not anywhere close. The Sounders play in a stadium they share with the Seattle Seahawks so they have a much larger capacity to work with. In 2013, Seattle averaged 44,038/game while Sporting KC averaged 19,709.

If they were shooting for a larger crowd, I'm sure the game would have been moved to Arrowhead Stadium (home of the KC Chiefs).

Maybe you can help me BMOT Rockies. I will be somewhere in southern colarado, Salida, Puebla around the 20th, how is transport i.e busses trains between Colorado and Kansas?

How much are tkts etc.

Cheers

Phil
Honestly I can't imagine travel between CO and KC are great. I would check RTD the local Denver/Colorado transit system. I'm not sure how familiar you are with CO, Kansas and Missouri (or if you are even from the states) but Kansas is a wasteland of prairies and plains, it is the most boring and awful drive you can make in the U.S.. I can't imagine there is too much for public transport. If you really want to go I'd suggest renting a car and making the 9-11 hour drive. I got my tickets for $60 a piece (30 quid) but that was almost a month and a half ago(I know that price is awful for a friendly with an MLS side, but how many chances will I get to see City that close to home?) . I would try stubhub.com or ticket master to get tickets. Good luck and I hope we will be singing Bluemoon together in a few weeks!

Thanks for the welcome de niro, Colorado is pretty great and luckily pretty close to KC. Also the rags will be in Denver on the 26th so I will be gone and won't have to share the state with the scum!

Thanks for the info bmotr. I will do some reseach and see what i can come up with. Im from manchester but currently in utah, zion nat park to be exact, beautiful here!!!! Once a blue always blue brother. Enjoy the game

Hi Phil,

We drove through Zion National Park on our way up to Bryce Canyon while we were staying in Las Vegas seven years ago. And you're right; it is beautiful there.

And if you have the time, you should visit Bryce Canyon too. It is my favourite place that I've visited so far in the States, and I've been to 43 of the 50 so far. It really is beautiful there and I would recommend it to anyone.

Hey!

I used to come on here quite a lot, but completely lost all log-in details, so had to sign up again - oops!

I'll be at the game on Wednesday - I'm actually Mancunian, but moved to Kansas/KC last November. I can't wait for Wednesday's game, hoping that City have a decent enough turn out; I got tickets in the General Admission section, but I'll probably just try and sit with the City fans if there's available seats.

I'm sure it's going to be a great match - if anyone needs to know anything about the KC area/ Sporting's stadium etc let me know, I've been to quite a few games and live really close by.

I also get to fly back to Manchester Thursday lunch time for the first time since I moved (I cancelled my original flight so I could stay for the game, haha)

My sister moved to KC just before Christmas and was meant to fly home for a visit for the first time since she moved, but has managed to change flights to be able to see the match before coming back to Manchester. She couldn't believe her luck haha

I didn't realise that my brother had already posted on here for me!

Attention Anyone Attending the Manchester City Vs. Sporting KC game on the 23rd.

The Regional branches of MCFC Denver, MCFC Dallas, MCFC Chicago, and the greater MCFC midwest would like you all to attend our pre-match meet up at the Yard House Bar which is located at the Legends Mall just across the parking lot from Sporting Park, the venue for the match. The gathering will begin at 4pm central time. We anticipate between 50-100 of the local supporters clubs members to be there. Please come join us for drinks and after we will march on the stadium in force. We are in contact with the club and anticipate that they will send over someone from the club to hang out with us and snap some photos. See you Wednesday!!!

Yard House Bar: 1863 Village West Parkway, Kansas City, KS 66111

P.S. I have not yet made enough comments to post a thread, but if someone would be so kind as to post this as a thread under the "match day forum" I would be greatly appreciative. We would like to see as many City supporters as possible.

My Husband and I were planning on heading to Yard House before the game anyway; I wanted to get my drink on, as with all good 'away days' (I'm classing it as an Away Day because I'm flying home the next day for a month, haha) - glad to see there'll be lots of people there! It'll be good to meet a lot of other fans, especially as my husband is the only American MCFC fan I know! See you all Wednesday!

Seattle is the biggest team here in the States in terms of support. I would imagine this game will probably not quite be sold out but could be close. Sporting KC get around 20k fans for their home games.

I hope to make it there as well. Former SKC season ticket holder who recently moved to Denver. I'm going with a fairly big group, need to steer them towards YH it seems.
