City v Viktoria Plzen Post Match Thread

Give it a rest OP. The only player who hasn't as some time shown themselves to be a great player is Garcia.
At different points over the last 12 months, Kolarov, Dzeko, Lescott and Milner have all shown that they have what it takes to play for City and have been praised by the City fans.
Milner has hit a bit of a low patch recently, but for almost all of 2013 he's been incredible for us, and he was very much preferred to Nasri (a player who less than a year ago was hated even more than Dzeko is now) at one time.

People on this forum are incredible the way they throw themselves onto every bandwagon that comes along.

Around 12 months ago Dzeko was constantly saving us with late goals after coming of the bench. The fans couldn't get enough of it and they were all begging for him to be started over Balotelli (who was in awful form). A few months later, Dzeko's form died down and he replaced Balotelli as the bad guy. His game depends so massively on his mindset. Get behind him and he'll show his worth.

Dzeko & City are game over, it is getting to the end. There is no point to discuss about it anymore. Dzeko was never realy in position to have continues play in order to build and maintain his form as it was in bundesliga. Even when he was shining, was always pushed down. City should let him go in Jan for reasonable price. The sooner, the better for booth parties.

I would never come on here and blatantly slag our boys off individually, even after watching last nights game in which i was getting more and more bloody frustrated with. I think most people are getting frustrated because all our expectations are so high and we want perfection every game. Now i dont want to slag any players off, but if we are to move up to the "elite" then some of our squad players just arent up to it. And whilst some of the guys who played last night have served us well in the past and brought us success, in order to move up to the next level we will need to strengthen the squad defensively in the summer, and im sure the club knows this. To be fair to some of the lads last night, they were visably lacking in confidence and match practice. You can feel fit and ready, but thats nothing compared to being "match fit". Players need to play games to get into the tempo of games.

The nucleus of the side is immense and i dont think we are a million miles away from being a great side. Silly errors and the odd lapse in concentration have really been punished this season, in other seasons then maybe we wouldnt have been so harshly punished? We really should be unbeaten this season.

I think over the next 5 years we will improve greatly in Europe as we get more and more used to European games and tactics. We have already come a long way in such a short time and the scary thing is that we can become even BETTER, MUCH BETTER!! :-)

Dzeko will go to Dortmund because Lewandowski is going to Bayern, we'll probably get about £20m for him and Klopp will turn him in to a world-beater purely because he'll be the No.1 and they'll play to his strengths. I have no problems with this whatsoever, there's no doubting Dzeko is a good player, but we can't give him what he needs to be that player.

This is the trick when people want to add so many top players into a squad when only 11 can play at a time. Dzeko will go on to be # 1 while he's currently our 3rd. It's a tough job to figure out who we can get to improve our squad while understanding they can't play or start every match.

There's two ways to go about it, you either go with an experienced head e.g 30+ or you go with youth players and see what they can do (Which I'd prefer) I'd love to see what Guidetti/Pozo can do.

When the opposition plays counter attack football against us from a defensive formation we simply can't cope. Demichells and Lescott both had mares last night but that was due to them playing in a formation where they were continually exposed.
As I see it, Pellegrini has two choices:
- Buy some whippet class quality defenders and DMs for Jan 1.
- Play defensive tactics that the players can actually follow successfully (and do this till Jan anyway).

If he doesn't sort it out the chances of winning a trophy this season are slim to non existent. Qualification for the CL for next season will be an issue too. I just find it hard to see why Pellegrini keeps trying the same thing when it is now clearly obvious what the result will be.

It's my only issue with him as the attacking footy at home in the league is pretty good.

PMSL!!!!!!

I'm sure Pellegrini is going to be playing that eleven every week. He must have been trying them out for the Arsenal game, eh?

Now that Pellegrini has had a chance now to look at all the squad it must be obvious which ones have to be moved on next summer.
Kolarov, Lescott, Garcia, Dzeko.

My replacements would be Luke Young, Ramos, Nigel DeJong, Levandowski.
