Man City will assess Steven Ireland's fitness today ahead of tonight's clash with Wigan at Eastlands.

The Blues, who are without Wayne Bridge, Joleon Lescott, Martin Petrov and Michael Johnson, welcome back striker Emmanuel Adebayor from a 4 match ban.

Wigan have their own fitness worries with winger Charles N'Zogbia and Emmerson Boyce doubtful due to injury.

Manchester City need a win to overtake Liverpool in the table and close the gap to Spurs in 4th, whilst Wigan need a rare away win to alleviate relegation troubles.

Referee-Stuart Attwell.

Following last Wednesday's defeat at home to Everton, City cannot afford to drop any points against lowly Wigan Athletic if they are to challenge for a Champions League place. History, however, is not on City's side, having won only one of nine Premier League matches against Roberto Martinez's team.
In that time, they've played four home games, scoring only three times. This is worrying as City have failed to score in their last two home matches.Wigan need points in the race to avoid relegation, but they have not been finding the net either, scoring only six times in their last eleven matches. Their cause is not helped with exciting French striker, N'Zogbia unlikely to be fit.
However,Adebayor will return after suspension, giving City much needed height and power up front. Santa Cruz hasn't done enough to keep his place, although to be fair it didn't help when he was brought on against Everton as Johnson was leaving the pitch.
I hope that Tevez and Adebayor will start up front with Bellamy and Johnson trying to get the ball to them. Against Wigan, I would be positive and Pick Vieira and Ireland to start in midfield. I would drop Barry back to left back and play Kompany, Richards and Zabaleta in a new look back four.

Bored of this now. I hope we nail them big style

The wind is a near gale easterly, drifting snow everywhere, and particularly covering the driveway. I've been in bed all day with 'flu, and I'll knacker myself if I have to start shovelling snow to get the van out.

Do I...

a) fork out about 80 quid for a return taxi to watch the match in solitude at the pub, expecting us to play like $h!te and lose to the pie-eaters, or...

b) follow the written reports on the internet and miss the best match of the season, when we stuff them 8-2...

??

Just one of life's dilemmas when you're a blue.
