City Vs Chelsea.. Your Thoughts on this upcoming match?

We've got a pretty decent record against the top 4, and I think it'll continue against the Chavs.

As I mentioned in another thread, they will be exhausted after their European game, and we're going to want to get the disappointment of the Stoke game out of our system.
Terry is going to get so much stick from the City faithful that I reckon he'll be subbed early on.

Also, they are without Cech.

I'm going for a 0-2 win because I honestly think we have a great chance of turning them over.

bang on there mat, think city would absolutly stupid to play him, in fact seeing as any city player could and will be sent off for just for the act of sneezing then i would without doubt play the reserves, we are going to be lucky to have 9 players left on the pitch?

City vs Chelsea...who reckons we have a chance at possibly beating chelski again at shiteford bridge??? do we have a 60/40 chance of winning or a 70/30 chance of winning???...me i want us to beat chelsea...but if we do then the Rag scum go on top if they beat the team they play next...so its a difficult choice for me tbh..

With all due respect, that is very optimistic! As a Chelsea fan, I'll say it's something like 51/49. Nothing much in it at all. I feel we have the slight edge because it is at home and man for man we supposedly have the better team but it'll be very close. City are one of those teams that I get very, very nervous about. Probably more so than against the likes of Arsenal or Liverpool at the moment.

For me, United are the only team I'll be getting more nervous about playing than City. There are also teams like Villa and Spurs who are always tricky to beat.

I'd also like to add we have only dropped points once this season at Stamford Bridge, and that was the 2-2 draw against Everton, so Stamford Bridge is a tricky as hell place to go to, as COMS is for us.

Personally, I can see a draw or a 1-0 or 2-1 win to Chelsea.

why is it a difficult choice! 'fans' that are more bothered about Utd losing than City winning we can do without thankyou.

stfu you wank stain....course i want us to win and get points im kind of hoping utd lose as well..

no, he's got a valid point, im sick of all these city fans going 'i hope chelsea beat us so utd don't go top' if thats what you want, go support utd, jesus, we want city to win, the top 2 don't regard us, were not that high in the table yet, lets focus on city, and no one else!

Playing away to Chelsea is always one of the games you least look forward to, that being said IF you have to play them tomorrow at early is perhaps the most ideal time, following their midweek trip to europe and it brings up the point, why the fuck are SKY able to bring forward the game of a team that was away in europe on Wednesday night? I know it might work in our favour right now, but hopefully in the years to come thats something we will have to deal with.

I think they would have preferred to put it on a Sunday, but decided to use the whole of Sunday to build up to the Carling Cup Final.

Bit gutting for us, and it'll be a pain in the arse for your lot next season when you are in the Champions League, but not the end of the world.

Obviously on here most people will pluck random percentages out of thin air but the best guide to our true chance of winning is the match odds market on Betfair. As it is a betting exchange/free market the prices tend to be very reliable indicators. (To convert odds to percentages there are plenty of calculator tools online).

Currently the odds are Chelsea 1.46, Draw 4.7, City 9. These equate to:
Chelsea 68%
Draw 21%
City 11%

In other words we will come away with something from this game one third of the time, and lose two thirds of the time. That's a fairly realistic chance of success in my book, whatever the doom and gloom merchants say.

When I'm working out my weekend bets I always like to have a look at Daniel Finkelstein's 'Fink Tank' column in The Times as he his own statistical model forcalculating the percentages for the weekend games. If there's a big difference with the Betfair markets I usually have a bet on it.
