According to an article in the DT today MCFC have the highest wage bill in world sport. I ain't bothered one jot whether it's the highest, the lowest, the median or the average, but the general tone of the piece is that it is something unwholesome and quite obscene to be in this position.

I do not recall however that this was a perennial article from the ToryGraph and can't bring to mind the previous holder of this unwanted honour, and were anyone to dig out past articles, I suspect that it would be held to have been a badge of honour and a measure of how important to world sport the club was. Alas, not when MCFC have the bill.

If it's true,(and i'm not saying it isn't), apart from not giving a flying fuck, wouldn't this partly be down to the fact we pay the non playing staff a living wage unlike the minimum wage all the other teams do?

I'm sure i've read that somewhere.
very true, and has been reported before

Impossible to know how they've got these figures as we don't publish player wages separately. Have they divided the total wage bill by the number of players in the first team squad? Have they taken a best guess at the wages of each player? Does the figure include Mancini's payoff, which will inflate it? Who knows so treat with extreme caution.

We do when you add up every single penny in renumeration paid to all our staff in 20 different countries and then divide it between our first XI, while conveniently forgetting half the wages of any NFL team and dividing it by the Superbowl attendance.

It was generally the New York Yankees it always has been but then a baseball payroll is different to a football teams payroll but since forever it was the New York Yankees

The figures quoted must be pure guesswork, the latest accounts simply give a total of wages and salaries at £205m (excluding employers NI of £28m). This relates to 222 footballing staff, including players, coaches, physios etc, and 227 commercial/admin staff. There are no individual figures, or even a range of salaries for the playing staff alone.

glad its the highest, that means we have money

and money is good for us, it means we are rich, which is very good

this means we can buy and retain world class players.....which is good

when we got taken over there was a collective wank from every blue...we are going to buy this and that , topple the scum and win the league, which we did ...which is also...good

now 5 years down the line blues seem to be embarrassed by our riches...which is bad
