City will miss Pep but how much will Pep miss City?

He won't go to another club, I don't think. He's staying within the City group for a year and otherwise taking some time off. Pretty much every day for the next 2-3 years he's gonna wake up next his wife (providing they patch things up), he's gonna be making lasting memories with his dear old dad, he'll be watching his kids become proper adults, and he'll be golfing, reading, and drinking wine by the sea for the foreseeable future. And he'll be relieved to do so.

His dad will pass away (sadly but likely in the next 5-6 years), his relationship with his wife will hopefully settle down (again if all goes well during their reunion over the next few months), and his kids will be all over the world by then. By 2032/33 he might start getting the football bug back, but not until then imo. He's lost a lot of time to football and he's going to work hard at claiming as much of it back as he can. Maybe then he'll think about international jobs.

If he regrets leaving City that badly in the future, he'll know he can come back. There's no chance we tell him no. With that in mind, I think he knows that he can spend the next 5-10 years back in Barcelona or on holiday, back in the year-round sunshine, gathering with old friends, watching football and relaxing on the Med, and maybe managing England or Italy or wherever he fancies. He knows the door is always open so he can tune out completely for a while.

If Pep wakes up one morning in the next 2-3 years and realises he regrets leaving City, he won't phone Khaldoon in a panic like "Shit shit shit I'm sorry can I come back", thinking that there's a time limit. He'll alert Khaldoon for sure, but we'll just say "Look Pep, we'll always say yes to having you back, but there's no rush, so have some time out with your family and in 4-5 years we'll be waiting for you, don't worry". But I doubt even that will happen, to be honest.
I saw somewhere that Barcelona Want him back.. he won’t go there.

I feel that the biggest reason for him leaving City is to reconcile with his wife who, I think he pissed off by extending at City. She had returned to Barcelona, with his youngest, form the outside looking in I get the impression that he had promised her that he would follow when his contract with City expired. His loyalty and that fact he didnt want to leave City in a poor position convinced him to extend.

Looking at it from her point of view, they have been together since his Barca playing days and she took a back seat to his career, now its her time to run the family fashion business and for Pep to take a back seat. He has done with club football and will take an national job which means less time away from their Barcelona home

All the above premised on them reconciling

If he could leave Barcelona I’m sure it wasn’t that difficult for pep to leave city. After all Barcelona is pep’s club

Obviously it’s still raw now but I don’t think pep is someone who looks back on things with too much sentimentality.

He is very much someone who is always motivated and looking for his next goal. I assume that will be to win an international tournament but with pep you just never know.

If Txiki where to end up in Milan or somewhere similar I could easily see pep rock up there for example.

I think he will leave football management. I think the past few years have really taken something out of him, IE the constant media criticisms and accusations of cheating and the power plays going on in the PL that make sure the red teams stay top. Sure he has overcome that but it is relentless and never-ending.

He hates corruption and cheats, he has given his very best over the last decade, just for some poisonous and tribal hacks to destroy it all off the back of ridiculous political charges brought about by the PL and their favourite clubs to stop City becoming a fanbase powerhouse - City are known as cheats and the red cartel have the PL sewn up now Pep has left.

Just my current thoughts, Il probably change my mind tomorrow.

I agree, and as much as Pep has loved his time at City, his wife is the real love of his life and i really hope he can patch things up with her.

I thought for the last couple of weeks of the season it was obvious that, in his head, he’d already gone. He’s a single minded, determined guy and I think once he’d come to the decision that was it, no going back. He’ll reflect back on his time here with pride and affection imo. Not just for the football and the trophies, but he made lasting connections with several players, the fans and seemed to develop a genuine love for the city and its people. Our humour, our attitude, our resilience and empathy, particularly after the arena bombing which affected him personally, seemed to resonate with him and, to a certain extent, he became ‘one of us’. I for one hope he makes use of his Golden Seasoncard at some point in the future.

I can picture him coming back in a Txiki type role in the future.

That is unless Barcelona sort their clown show political structure and finances out, maybe he’d end up there as CEO or something.

I think he'll miss City, I believe he has been genuinely overwhelmed by the love shown to him by us all.

I don't think international management would suit him - as we all know, he is an intense coach getting his methods and philosophies into players, who, some, admit it took a while for them to 'get' what he meant.
So, with international football where different groups of players only get together half a dozen times a year, I think he would be frustrated.

Unless he really is a genius!!

Imagine a british politician with Pep's fire and conviction, integrity and charisma? No I can't either:( .... Ignoring his personal relationships, he would be a "Messiah" around the CFG, a year of Pep could be transformational, for any club. Much too young to put his feet up, unless someone he trusts has convinced him that he's on the jagged edge of total burnout.

I believe the club have told him, due to his circumstances, he only qualifies for a Flexi Gold.

It seemed very telling that Pep had his Father at the Villa game for the unveiling of his stand. He said himself that it’s something that will stand for decades after he is long gone but in a way it felt like it was him acknowledging to his family that he might not have been around much for the last 30 years but he’s achieved something bigger for the Guardiola name than just trophies.

In some ways his departure reminds me of the story about Bill Nicholson the great Spurs manager (amazingly they did once have one). Shortly before he decided to retire his daughter got married and, naturally, he was giving her away. Someone asked him what his memories of her childhood were and he realised he didn’t really have any as he’d been consumed with managing Spurs for the entire time. Similarly, I suspect Pep’s kids all growing up and flying the nest coupled with his wife leaving him was very sobering. 2016 feels like a blink of an eye, but in the time he’s been working 24/7 for City his children have gone from primary school to adulthood.

He’ll probably go to international management but I’m not sure he’s in love with football in its current state. It’s gone physical, cynical and direct which is totally at odds with his core principles. Furthermore, there aren’t the really great players to play his way that were once available. He started with Iniesta, Xavi and Messi, moved on to Silva, De Bruyne, Bernardo, Gundogan and Rodri, but I’m not sure that talent exists anywhere in the modern game. Now is as good a time as any to recharge the batteries, rebuild relationships and think about where to go next with the beautiful game.

If Pep stayed for that last season, I think the Premier League would have fucked us even worse knowing it's his last season. I think the timing was right, even so we finished 2nd, I think winning both cups would not have been on the cards

1 million % Manchester City will miss Pep
