I'll always take a boring 1-0.
We defended well, stayed composed throughout the whole match and Izzy Christiansen scored a lovely header.
I was excited about signing Natasha Harding so glad she's back from injury. Can't remember seeing much of Keira Walsh before but she was cool and Georgia Stanway did well on her debut.

I can't see Chelsea slipping up but you never know, I reckon if the ladies finish 2nd they will be extremely happy!

Well done again.

Decent enough performance tonight bearing in mind we were missing our two most potent attackers in Duggan and Parris plus Lucy Bronze and Daphne Corbyn. The girls taking their places worked hard but the goal threat just wasn't the same. Good to see Keira Walsh back playing as I think she is real quality in front of the back 4 which allows Jennie Beattie to play alongside Steph at the back which is probably her best position.

I might have gone for Izzie as player of the match. Not just for the excellent goal but she really is perpetual motion in the middle of the park , making things happen as well as winning so many balls when we are being attacked.

Some of the passing was sloppy out of defence, but most Sunderland chances were snuffed out well. Stokes and Beattie were great on that left side of the back 4. Good result, all told.

Getting in the CL would be great.

They might. In their remaining two games, they have Liverpool away and Sunderland at home. Sunderland may be dropping off the pace but they've been in the top two for much of the season, and while Liverpool are struggling, they are still last season's champions. We, by contrast, have three home games against bottom four sides. It's not beyond possibility that Chelsea could slip up in the run-in, especially if we bag a win in our game in hand on Wednesday and really put pressure on them by sitting just the two points behind.

That said, our focus should probably just be on getting in the top two and earning that Champions League space. That would be huge for the team. Let's not also forget that we are in the quarter-finals of the Continental Cup, which we are also the current holders of. I don't think we need to aim for winning the league right now - there are plenty of other prizes on offer to make this a very successful season.

I know that yesterday’s late kick off was down to the TV slot, and that the World Cup has messed with the fixtures, but you still get the feeling that it’s all a bit haphazard, reflecting in the up and down attendances (2000 to 900 is a huge drop in percentage terms)

Going forward, it needs a more balanced set of games, with a settled kick off time, that fans can then identify with MCWFC.
None of this famine to feast, with no home games in a month followed by four in a fortnight.

Think the girls are going to fall just short, could be down to that last minute equaliser they conceded to Notts County, a real shame if so. Because of the goal difference, they need Chelsea to lose one of their games - which is a big ask I think
