Mark Allen said on Saturday that we are essentially moving away from U21/U18 to U19/U16 from next season, and he's really big on the Breda model of sending multiple players out on loan to the same club. So a lot of the 20/21 year olds will be shifted out on loan this summer to what he calls "finishing school" and it will be very young teams at the EDS/U18 age group.
Looking farther down the line it can only help in introducing youth players to the 1st team at an earlier age hopefully.I like the sound of that a lot. As good as our U18's and U16's have been, it'd be no good for them to beat up on the same teams year in year out. If they can have a good season playing up, that will do loads more for their progression and confidence.
