City's 2001/2 Division 1 Title Win 21/04/2002:

Didn’t we have Notts County away in the cup in the same day as 9-11?

We did. We were watching it in a pub in town, waiting for people to meet up.

Small problems in context maybe but we missed the last train home due to the extra time and ended up stuck on Sheffield station for hours waiting for the first one in the morning.

Pretty strange atmosphere at the game, as you’d probably expect.

They were happy times. I just associate that season with feelings of contentment about life in general. I remember the 3-0 at home to Birmingham the weekend following 9/11. The silence was impeccable and I can remember the stars and stripes bring draped from the top tier of the Kippax. It was a very moving occasion. I also loved the kit, the material was sublime.
Very poignant. And 9/11 feels like yesterday sometimes. And yet so much has changed since then. X

Always disappointed that we didn't hold a parade at the end of the season, it was the only promotion as champions and I thought thus is as good as it will ever get. Only City would have an Israeli and an Arab midfield parternership, but it absolutely worked. Last season I got to nearly every home game and many aways, got married in the September. My favourite season since 75 76 and until 2010 2011

My favourite game that season was Barnsley away on Halloween, it was 3-0 but could have been 8.

And thinking the last time I’d been to Barnsley away was a depressing defeat a couple of years earlier with Franny Lee doing interviews from a lounger in Barbados whilst we stood in that open away end in the sleet.

“I’d rather be in Barnsley than Barbados” was the chant that day. 6000 City if I remember right.

Classic season, all of our 3 strikers to score 20 plus goals, Huckerby being a third choice that!

Burnley at home dinner kick off always sticks in my memory, top of table clash and we leathered them

Once we'd got the wind in our sails there was a "lightness" in walking up to the ground that had too often been absent of late. No dread, no feelings of obligation/defiance, just looking forward with excitement to being well entertained. It was that feeling of a weight being lifted and a spring in our step that means, like many others, I look back on that season with huge fondness.
