When will premier league teams stop this farce of playing games in america? the yanks just arent interested, how many extra shirts or tickets will we sell because of this tour? and mean while the true fans over hear have to put up with 3 am kick offs of a couple of grand on a trip you might end up seing the reserves play

you're an idiot. The anti-American talk on this forum is disappointing.

Can you explain why i am a idiot for not wanting to get up at 1 am or spend several thousands on watching my team just so some yank who will more than likely never set foot in eastland can have the pleasure of seeing them?

the same reason us yanks have to get up at 7am on a Sunday morning to watch us :)

if you're really going off the pot because if you want to watch some meaningless friendlies with fringe players late at night then maybe you need to get a job or something else worth complaining about more.

-- Tue Jun 15, 2010 3:30 pm --

and, of course, it all comes down to money. And don't say 'we are owned by the Sheikh, we don't need a cash grab'. This is a business.

How much extra money will this raise though teams have been trying to get america interested for years it wont happen, touring the asain market will reap much better rewards but then again cook can meet up with all his pals over there can he

We used to take the piss out of united for doing it.

Away friendlies used to be £5/£10/£15 train and £10 in.

Great days out enjoyed by 5000 city fans on a Saturday in late July.

I bet a large percentage of City fans were introduced to the Club by being taken to one of these friendlies, or at least had their first away match there.

It is not as though people in South Africa and USA will come every week.

football is more popular in the States than most people think, it just doesn't seem like it because of how populated the country is and how many major sports have to share the spotlight.
